I have a 2006 997 Automatic with 24,000 miles. Of late, when shifting from Park to Drive and Park to Reverse, the shift is very stiff and requires some effort to engage. Wondering if this is a shift linkage cable problem. Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Have you serviced the transmission? Changed transmission fluid and filter?

 

Yes, fluid and filter changed at 21k miles.

 

Sounds like shifter linkage is binding. I’d start by looking at the parts catalog to see how it’s all connected.
