I've had such a headunit in the past and found it quite distracting + sometimes hard to read.

The original HU has a mat LCD. Are there aftermarket models available with a mat display?
I install a matte screen protector under the frame for my customers

(do note that the small imperfection visible in these pics went away with some heat, I wouldn't ship to a customer that way - I'd redo the film)

As @Jack007 wrote, the glossy display is totally unreadable upon sun or light angle.
Next step would be the installation of the anti-glare film, too.

Default Trouble stuffing wires

My Android Head Unit is a HereGoes Aliexpress in 2008 911 997.1 Turbo. Install is complete and it works well. it took me awhile. My first several attempts at getting it fully seated result in getting it within about 1" of being fully seated.

I'm just hitting against wires at the back. I have a feeling I just need an hour to keep trying to position the wires at the back better. But are there any tricks that anyone has found to getting this done? Thanks!

Is there any sound improvement with swapping out HU? I’m about to install a new Pioneer HU to replace the original PCM and hoping for some improved sound while keeping existing Bose speakers. Mine sounds really stuffy currently.

I'm using the AlieExpress HereGoes head unit in my 2005 997 with Bose. Anytime I use the bluetooth to talk to someone on the phone they complain of an echo. Is there anything I can do to reduce the echo?

To my ears, it sounded good with old head unit and new one (Heregoes Aliexpress . Mine car had Bose and "premium grade amplifier" (as listed on Window sticker.). Plenty of volume

Thanks. I’ve got the same supposedly - all Bose with a sub. It’s plenty loud and it’s clear but lacks true highs and sounds muffled. (I know - no highs/no lows must be Bose). The stock head unit has simple bass and treble settings. My audio guy who is going to install the new HU thinks better sound is a possibility with more robust EQ settings but is very wait and see.

The problem if the HU doesn’t improve sound is the very narrow selection of aftermarket speakers that will fit.

The journey to get this installed was exhausting. I like crisp high's and I am so happy to have it working I haven't yet bothered to tweak the settings. Best with your pioneer install.

Default I do not speak Android! Pardon my ignorance

I have just almost finished installing the Aliexpress Heregoes 7862 HU.

Apple car play works just like it should. Everything else is a mystery.

The Radio app sucks.

I don't recognize most of the other apps

Do I need or want to log the unit to my house wifi?

I'm sure there are other apps I might want from the Android auto play store or someplace.

My HU had zero instructions.

I would have thought the HU accessed the internet though my iPhone. No?

I have a Gmail and Youtube account.

If there is a decent reference? I have searched but not found it.

Thanks all.

That is an install guide which includes configuration info and some tips. Its for 991s but its the same for 997s. Andy and the others who contributed did a great job.

I dont use AA - I run the head unit with my hotspot. That way I can run Waze, the Play Store, etc natively.

Look for posts by MattDevoCustom, he has a modified version of the HU software that is really good.

If you dont like the stock radio app, look into NavRadio+ (tons of info on it at XDA). Its worth the $5 or so to get the full version.

Wow, the guide you linked is amazing. Happy to find it. I'll make some tweaks as a result. Dang, wish I found this earlier. These are the directions that should have been provided. Thanks!

Mind sharing which anti-glare screen protector you use on the Heregoes 9872? Thanks

(do note that the small imperfection visible in these pics went away with some heat, I wouldn't ship to a customer that way - I'd redo the film)
