So I previously read through this entire thread in figuring out what to do with my (new to me) '09 997.2 Cab. Seemed like there were more complications than I was willing to undertake, so I decided to buy a Mr 12Volt from Roman instead.
Welp, over the weekend i broke off a couple of pins on the PCM pulling out an old cable, so I guess I am going the AE route. I purchased a SADOCOM 7862 unit with Fiber. I am trying to figure out a few things:
1. Will I lose the dashboard tire pressure (that I currently have/had)? If so, do I need to buy a new TPMS to integrate with the HU, or does it get it via canbus?
2. To deal with the "doesn't turn off" problem, I only need to follow MYX post #1339. ...i.e., LuckyPierre #1362 and other posts are consistent with that, right?
3. Does anyone with a 997.2 (and formerly a PCM 3) not get the dashboard error? If it is universal, can my local indie "code it out?" I feel like my wife will kill me if there's a permanent exclamation point.
4. I think I need to buy a dual FAKRA adapter. Anyone have a link?
5. Anything else I need to buy to make this work well? I think I am comfortable that the trim seems to look good out of the box on 997.2.
So your plan A is to run the amplified speaker outputs directly to the car's harness but turn down the headunit's amp enough to hopefully compensate for the double amplification, correct?
In your plan B, how would you interface the RCAs coming out of the LOC with the factory amp under the seat? It sounds like what you may be referring to is some form of an inline de-amplification volume controller with speaker lines on both sides and not a LOC, right?
I forget the members name, but he made his custom harness to get this to work.. it is on this thread and its very detailed and is specific to the SPP cars are it routes the low voltage RCA outputs directly into the main cars speaker harness bypassing the internal android amps amplification.

Yup I did that with my unit and have ground loop feedback. I'm wondering if it may be because the front and rear outputs are on separate motherboard plugs on the public version and will be trying the private version with the 20 pin connector next.

you're wasting your $$, you'll have ground loop feedback regardless. You can simply disconnect one set of RCAs to test your theory that the separate plugs is in any way an issue.
You also don't need to touch the factory wiring at all, only the harness from the new unit to the factory plug.

The seller agreed to take back the public unit once I receive the private version so it doesn't hurt to try it as far as I see it. If the new one doesn't work I'll probably just return it and go with a Mr. 12 Volt setup with the factory PCM and be done with it.
I did actually try disconnecting the rear RCAs but it's hard to tell how much of an impact it had because the ground loop noise varies based on engine RPM and I wasn't able to button everything back up and go for a drive without the disconnected RCAs contacting something else when shoving everything back into the center console. I suppose I could have taped them up and worked to feed them back behind the headunit but I gave up at that point.
And yes, I didn't have to touch the factory wiring at all.

I'm not 100% sure what cables I need for bypassing the antenna booster so I haven't purchased anything for that yet but I did buy the microphone bracket from Enfig Car Stereo that will let me put an aftermarket mic in the stock location on the steering column.
just installed the 7862 Heregoes 8GB 125GB from Ali Express and I hv to say I'm impressed , a great value for the money ! I have 2 small issues the installer connected the gps part that comes with the box and placed it on the dashboard (passenger side) which looks out of place!! do I need this part ? I have the CarPlay connected wirelessly so would I need this gps part to be connected and visible ? another thing is that I have 2 cables coming out of the sceen with 2 USB A and I don't like how they look!! is there a way to hide then or place them in a better place? third thing is that the buttons lighting is Red which don't suit the rest of the OEM buttons in AC (White light) is there a way in the settings to change the color of the Headunit ? pix attached
Thanks. Bought the same off amazon. Does the OEM mic no longer work?
These units have a headphone jack for the microphone. I suppose it's possible (and probably cheaper) to trace the wires from the OEM mic to where it terminates in the harness, pull it out, and wire a 3.5mm post to it. But I'm thinking the bracket seems like the easier (and easier to reverse) method.

Reason: typo
It definitely does have +12 V on my 997.2 with the key inserted as I use it for both the antenna amp and the MOST box. Works fine. IIRC there's a setting for this in the Factory menu (PW:3368) where you can change how the antenna amp (blue wire) behaves.
I have tested this wire and yes I have 12V when key is on...but I have a +- 7V when key is out !
I have that with the antena wire but also with the +ACC that come out of the car harness (pink)

You don't need the GPS dongle if you're using Carplay as it gets the GPS signal from your phone.
The way I solved the USB plugs issue was removing the OEM lighter in the passenger side and adding a female USB plug that is connected to those cables. Looks tidy:

I also added a startup video for OEM-ish looks
thank u for the feedback, ur solution with usb is spot on 👍🏻, how did u get the oem starup on the HU? Looks epic
Fixed this morning the issue with the unit not stopping when removing the key. It was because of a menu telling the unit that the antenna is not amplified. I ticked this option beecause I didn't wired the blue antena wire for the antenna amplifier. It is not related to any boot/startup/stop condition but it caused this bug on the CAN implementation
