Hi guys - at highway speed my oil temps are 205-210 but on weekend rips I'm hitting 225-245. 225 is my usual when I'm >4k RPM (which is most of the time), but it will jump to 240-245 in the twisties and hills when speeds are low and RPMS are high. I assume its the combo of lower air over the rads plus higher engine loads.

(Side note: I have a theory, not sure a good one, that road temps have an equal impact on oil temp as air temp, especially in a lowered car. In SF the air temp can go from 65F to 95F in 10 miles and 10 minutes, just based on if the wind is blowing. The roads in both locations have been baking under the same sun and radiating heat. So even though the air temp is reading 70F your car can been experiencing road heat like its 95F. )

I still don't know what is "normal" temps are, but I think we all agree lower is better. So, im going to add a third radiator and see what it does. The stuff I've read said guys are seeing 10-15 degree lower temps. My only question is will it really help at lower speeds with no fan.

Looking for any tips or DIYs out there on bumper removal and radiator install.

I believe that there's a writeup somewhere in the DIY section
One tip: the hoses which connect the side radiators to the center radiator look like they can go in either way (at least on the passenger side), but that's not the case
I don't remember it exactly but one side has a white dot which needs to be connected to the white dot on the other side

One more thing: in my car the oil temp gauge reads 10-15 degrees too high (measured against oil temp via CAN bus)

Buy the 997.1 radiator kit, its like $150, the 997.2 is much more. Then buy or fab your own plastic for the side pieces, which is the main difference between a 997.1 and 997.2 radiator kit.. A write up on here lists the parts.

Let's do it. I have some suspension work on my list too. I need to change my left front and rear strut mounts. I already changed the rights. I also have an intermittent squeak when I get out of the car from my right rear. Im thinking maybe I tweaked the drop link or control arm bushings when we replaced the strut mount.

I would get the center radiator kit now. I got mine from Pelican for $200. Neil at Sonnen said the prices on those kits from Porsche had increased dramatically over the last few months, so i figured I would just get it now and not risk it.

Need to read up on where to source the grill mesh.

I got the Zunsport grill screens. Easy to install, no bumper removal. But since you'll be removing the front bumper, you have more options.

rtl5009 just recently installed the kit. We both drive 2006 C2S’s and he’s consistently seeing 10 degree lower temps when we’re out driving (so we know we have identical conditions). I plan to do mine after seeing his results.

Grant, I have screening I bought at OSH years ago to make screens for my 996GT3. Didn't use it. In fact, never took it out of the packaging. I'll check it's condition. If ok, you're welcome to it.

Do you know if this is because they're reading sensors in different locations or is it the same sensor with an offset on the gauge? I'll have to remember to check my car and see if there is a similar delta.
