Default Clutch Stop fir 997.1

I have searched all the forums and found a little bit about clutch stops but not much for the 997 or from you guys. RSS has one. I was thinking about reducing the length of the clutch by using a clutch stop. I think the switch would need to be disabled so you don't have to depress the clutch all the way in order to start the engine. correct? Anyways, I wanted to hear your thoughts on the subject. Pros, cons, personal experience, etc.

Thanks!

I'm surprised no one has responded about having a clutch stop. Nobody?

I don't know that you can limit or adjust the engagement point of a hydraulic clutch or why that's necessary. Seems like a lot of work with potential issues for not much gain.

I think the main purpose is if you have an aftermarket clutch that has a higher pickup point and therefore a lot of useless travel at the bottom of the stroke. If the OP wants to shorten the stroke of his current setup this won't do anything for that.

YES! That is what I wanted. Shortening the stroke. I dont need to push the clutch all the way to the floor. ...so I was thinking of a clutch stop. Would that work?

Are you saying that because the clutch disengages quite a bit before the pedal goes to the floor? On my car there isn't much difference between where the clutch fully releases and where the travel ends so a pedal stop wouldn't do much. The stop won't impact where the clutch releases.

OP, i have a bmw 335 with the clutch stop and a modded clutch delay valve. Silky smooth shifts and almost impossible to stall. I would not mess with the stock 997 clutches. Damn thing is stiff compared to my bmw and literally springs back from the floor. Even worse these self adjusting 997 clutches get stiffer as they age/wear out. The 991.2 clutch feel is much better and closer in feel to my 335. I am waiting for 991.2 to depreciate little more so I can buy one..

I'm also waiting and hoping the 991.2 will depreciate soon. Glad to know this model have softer clutch, the 997 is quite stiff IMO. My only concern with the 991.2 is trying to fix or repair the engine, total pain in the *** to get to and don't know if it's worth the money.

Thanks to all who responded. I will take your advice and not get a clutch stop. It was more a me just being curious and thinking of how to shift faster.
