I have read what I think is every thread on this topic and thus creating this one. Recently purchased 997.2 2011 and cannot seem to get the PCM to play Spotify through my phone. I purchased a 30pin to lightning and after inserting a cd, downloading a track to Apple Music, the car will still not recognize my phone device after flipping through sources. Are there different types of 30pin to lightning? What am I missing here? Thanks for your future guidance.

I found that the short 30-pin-to-Lightning adapter wouldn't work for me but the long one would. Here's the adapter that never worked for me:

Best of luck to you! (My 997.2's PCM stopped working with any Apple device, and after taking it to a repair shop, I found the Y-cable's pins had been bent by the repair shop! Argh!)

I have my 997.2 working with the long cable @JoeSwift showed above, along with a 3’ extension so that I can mount my phone on the dash. Here’s a link to the extension I’m using. No problems at all with this setup.

I have the long adapter shown above, attached to the Bovee Bluetooth dongle, which allows me to play music via bluetooth, instead of plugging in the phone.

Same here, no external cables. I use this one. It connects to my phone faster than the PCM in my 2016 Macan.

Bovee bluetooth dongle x 100000 - no need to mess with connecting the cable to your iPhone. I also installed a magnetic induction charging mount.

I have an iphone 8 but the Bovee bluetooth dongle connected to the OEM 30-pin connector and it works fine for me. My phone doesn't always connect so I have to fidget with it sometimes but it doesn't bother me enough to seek out another solution.

I can't even get any of the AUX, USB or iphone output to come up on PCM. I even went to the dealer to update my PCM software but still can't get the AUX to come up on the screen. Any advice?

For an alternate POV, I managed to get a 30 pin-lightning from apple, connected it to my phone and while the sound comes thru, the quality is horrible. Anyone had that issue? For reference when I use a BT adapter to plug into the Aux the sound is totally clear

Phone is always connected to bluetooth for calls but for spotify, i will plug this in, play music through aux and it charges my phone at the same time anyway

AUX and USB only come up as options if there is a device plugged in the car recognizes. I have USB plugged into mine, first time I plugged it in it didn’t show up cause formatting didn’t match car requirements. Formatted, loaded songs, and voila, it appeared on selection panel of PCM.

What did you had to format and how did you do it? I have been stumped with this for months! The dealer spent hours on my car and still couldn't get it to work. You help would greatly be appreciated.

You may have to reformat the USB. Below link should help with USB format and supported file formats. I had to reformat USB. If memory serves I also initially had some non supported file formats on some tunes which prohibited the PCM from recognizing the USB (I loaded couple thousand songs). Once I deleted the bad files, it worked immediately and has since. Let us know if this helped!

I tried this and still didn't work. Can you tell me what version software you have on your car? Mine has V1.47.
