997 Bose Drivers Door Speaker Replacement
Folks,
The Bose speaker in my driver's door appears to have given out on me. Rather than simply getting a new/used exact OEM/Bose replacement, has anyone had a good experience with an alternative to it that's off the shelf, less expensive and an exact fit for that space? Hoping to find an alternative that'll work well.
My 06 has a pioneer AV deck in it matched to a Rockford amp -- the install occurred before I purchased the car but my PPI deemed it very professionally done. I'm not an audiophile, recognize the limits of audio in a convertible so looking for clean sound to enjoy when I drive.

There is a good write up on 6speed by Ryanm. Uses focal IS200 if I recall which are an 8" subwoofer. You may be able to use the stock Bose mounting ring by cutting out the back. Worked fine for me but some reported that the door panel wouldn't close completely.
Petza has a write up here as well. If you are going to do the door subwoofer, might as well do the speaker as well. The 8" woofer set has a pair of tweeters you can throw in the front dash as well. Was really easy to do. Have done it twice to my older 997.1 and again to my 997.2.
Buy some spare door panel tabs.
