I have the rennline mount in my .1 and am very impressed with the build quality and innovation. Very well done.

I have a rennline mount in my 997.2 and I love it. I tried several others and they just didn’t cut it.

+1 more on the Rennline mount. I stuck the metal plate inside my phone case without gluing it to the phone. Works just as well and didn't permanently modify my phone.

Oh yea I also placed the metal plate inside my cell phone case at the bottom too and it does not interfere with the inductive charging. I have an iPhone 8.

I use the Steelie magnetic ball mount in all my cars.
My 997 has a CF center console so I stuck the mount to it since I don't have to worry about damaging the finish if I want to remove it (one of the best things about CF interior trim). It's right behind the gear shift and flipping the ashtray open let's the phone sit there securely in a landscape orientation with a short USB cord going to the outlet port in the ashtray. It's a little low but not hard to glance down for a look at Waze since I don't really need or want to be using the phone for anything else when driving.
In my Cayenne, I bought the Rennline bracket, a threaded ferrous ball and the Steelie mount sticks to the ball. This makes the Rennline mount compatible with my Steelie setup and I imagine yiu could do the same with their 997 mount.

ProClip Angled Mount 853540 – clip and plate for Porsche $39
I now own a Sumsung S10+, a pretty big phone and it still works fabulously. Only negatives is that it is down low and big passengers bump it with their knee.
BTW, I drilled a hole in the back of the cubby and run two USB charger cables.. one for my bluetooth Plantronics earpiece and the other to my phone. (I think the car's bluetooth sucks royally).
Peace

FWIW - I use a standard windshield suction cell phone mount that cost ~ $12 on Ebay. I like to have it high near line of sight because I use Waze for navigation, police location detection, and red light camera locations.
I tested Waze against my Pasport-8500 on a trip from south Florida to Atlanta, GA and back. Waze reported police location was just as bit as good as radar detector, if not better. So much so that I no longer use radar detector anymore.
