Default Gas pedal becomes unresponsive.

I have a 2006 997 Cab 6 speed. My Gas pedal becomes unresponsive every once in a while. If I release the pedal and give it gas again it starts to work. I see the pedal has a module is this the part that fails or is there another module on the motor? Any tests I can run to make sure i'm changing the correct part? I have a Porsche scanner no codes present.

This could be attributed to crappy fuel ?? When was the last time you took it out for a good highway blast .... My ML500 did the same thing once in awhile and I cleaned the intake plenum and it resolved the issue.

If not stale fuel, change the little plunger switch on your brake pedal. It's like $25. Cars are designed so the engine can't overpower the brakes and when you hit the brakes, it cuts the power to the motor.

I've had to do this on both my 997s for the same symptoms.

Probably something electronic Being that it's a drive by wire system could be anything from pedal potentiometer being faulty to the problem I had with my prior 2005 997 which was a faulty wheel spin sensor which fooled the car into thinking I was in a spin out and cut the fuel to the engine.

One test you can do is to turn off PSM. If it stops happening or happens less often, then it could be something related to the stability control like a wheel speed sensor.

Try the ECU throttle body reset:

1 - Insert the key in the ignition (Off position). Rotate key 1 click to ON position (not start) for 60 seconds

2 - Back to OFF 5 seconds

3 - Again to ON position 15 seconds

Start the engine

With the engine lid open you may hear the throttle readjusting.
