Hey Guys,

Longish time lurker, first time poster. I have been looking for an AWD porsche for the past few months and just saw this CPO listed at a Porsche Dealership in Monmouth.

I've contacted them and requested the service records. Anyone see any red flags? Should I still ask for a PPI even with a CPO?

I live far away so I basically would have to buy this unseen and have it shipped to me. I'm not in any rush and have given myself a year to buy but this seems like a really good deal (especially with two year warranty).

This is a little high for 997.1 C4 with auto and 68K miles. I've seen many of these for closer to $30,000. You're clearly paying a premium for the 2-year warranty. I would want to know what exactly is the drive out price. Are they added all those shaded fees on top?

Personally, if you really like the car, request a PPI and see if they oblige. Is they don't, then keep moving to a different car.

I agree the price is a little steep...do you think having the piece of mind of a CPO isn't worth this price? I also (maybe incorrectly?) assumed that the fact it got a CPO would imply a good and consistent service history. I was going to try and bargain a bit...don't want to pay more than $35k with delivery included for this particular model.

Not sure how they CPO'd the car. I thought it was past the age that Porsche allows CPO. Maybe an aftermarket warranty? Great color!

I have seen 997.1’s around Philadelphia with a CPO from Porsche. Apparently they qualify. They can go back on older cars. Porsche of the Mainline CPO’d a 2006 recently.

Maybe Porsche is trying to go the Ferrari route in terms of CPOs . They can certify cars up to 14 yrs old.

Spoke with the dealer. Legitimately a CPO with total cost of $36,500 cash (without shipping). What would you guys think to be a fair price to offer as a counter?

Porsche's website says the CPO program is only available on "current model year vehicles and those of eight previous model years with less than 100,000 miles..."

As I am usually skeptical of car salesmen, I am curious how a 2007 could be CPO'd since the policy is pretty clear.

It’s been recently revised to 12 years/100k miles. I’m thinking of offering $30k cash.

Apparently it’s changed. They advertise that it now goes back to 2006/124,000 miles. If you get that in writing, its going to be tough for them to get out of the deal...

If fits for what you’re looking go for it! CPO worth more than normal retail, so dont be disappointed if the decline offer of 30. Can’t tell from their site of maintenance status. If they’d go for 32-33 with major service, ie plugs, coils, all new fluids including brake, might be worth it. Also ask tire and brake life left, and tire age, may have tread but might be old. CPO requires certain tire and brake pad depth, but especially front disc/pads would be suspect at that mileage.
I recommend you handle shipping carrier. You can use one of repute and get enclosed shipping. I had great shipping experience with mine because I chose shipper. Wife’s car shipper picked by dealer, turned out ok, but bad experience.

I was at the dealer last weekend looking at Macans for the wife and was surprised to find that many of the CPO cars had minor accidents on the Carfax. Never would have thought Porsche would allow this.

The car is pretty basic option wise and I would hold out for a 4s like i did and you will get the Sport Chronos package and most likely wayyy more options.

Be patient and don't jump on the first decent car you find. My quest took a year to find "the right one" and I haven't looked back since. Also do you really want a Tiptronic transmission vs a standard ?? Such cars traditionally fech less cash .... Also coupes are more desirable and harder to find.

I never got the Carerra 4 marketing concept when you can have the 4s which gives you that and then some besides because of the CPO they want all the beans for the car ... This car would have fallen behind the mark during my quest even if i liked this car simply because it has few options.

This is the beauty of buying a pre-owned car ..You can get a well optioned out car in great shape for the same money as this car at the expense of the prior owner ... Don't forfeit this gift as a buyer. You will look back and at other cars and wish you had those options.
