Best tires for a Highway Queen?
997.2 2010 M6 141K S Cab
Mine never sees the track, but I put a ton of highway miles on her. I am coming up to the rare occasion when I will be needing all four tires at once. This is a perfect time to change tires. I have stuck with what was on it when I got it because I did not like the look of different tires in front than in back.
She is a daily driver that gets most of its miles going on long trips across the SE US. I have had it 3 years and I have put about 50K mile on it. I currently have Bridgestone Potensa S-04 Pole Positions.
What would y'all recommend?

If you are only driving it on the highway and aren't ever taking it on twisties or the track, I'd go with something like the General G-Max RS as you should still get enough performance for the times that you might be driving in a more spirited manner. If you've got the money and want the more comfortable ride though, I'd go with Michelin PS4S's.

Thanks! I ran Pilots on my BMW's (I used to drive BMW's before they put speakers in them to make rummm rummm sounds in the cabin). They (the tires) were awesome. I did not know if they were any good on low profile wheels.

+1 re the PS4S. I've been running them for about six months on my 997.2 , not on the track, but everything else, and I'm very pleased with them. Mike
edit. I also run the A/S 3 on my 1985 911 because I want a tire suitable for colder weather, and they are very good.

Hankook evo Ventus 2.
Will last almost twice as long as the Michelins and give you 95% of the performance. Has a directional tread pattern that is very good at displacing water. Handles the twisties well enough for those rare occasions for you.
Have run 2 sets of them on my wife's 997 C2S.

I use the Invos on mine since I need more dry grip for the higher HP I have and more aggressive driving style, but using the Invos on her car, the way she drives it, was a waste and I think the Hankooks are also better in the wet, just slightly, so prefer she has that confidence level too as I don't need her hydroplaning or losing the rear in the rain.

I have run through two sets of the Hankook Evos on my ‘09 daily driver. They are not noisy and they are great tires. I have 79k on my car, probably 50k of that on the Hankooks.

I just switched out my ultra high performance all season Toyo Proxes 4 for MP4S today. Put 4k on the Toyos over winter. They should get 25-30k+ on the rears and maybe 40-45k on fronts and are rated for 50k I believe but I never expect that. They handled well even fast backroad driving on a warm day and are quiet similar to prior MPSS through 4k miles. I may go year round when the Michelins wear out since I was impressed. They were 1k for set so price is good. For a cab getting lots of highway miles, it's worth considering.
