You ask here if you want to be told to keep it even if it won't get used properly for years. Ask your financial advisor. Maybe they would say sell it, invest proceeds until ready for another, buy one again for more than you sell for but still have come out ahead. Cars are lousy investments. If you're seriously thinking about selling it than you probably won't look back in 5 years, and if you do, buy a GT3 or something more special.

Your car is worth a lot more than 70k.

Wow, guys. I truly appreciate your input. My gut feeling is confirmed and I will keep it as we're blessed not having to sell it for financial reasons.
I think we are meant to be together, since we met in Dallas Check out the .pdf for the original list.

I do not have recent photos, but it looks very much the same as these

Thanks again! Much appreciated.
Cheers,
Gino

If you are unable to drive the car and truly enjoy it for what it is, I'd sell now, and re-enter with a new Porsche at a later date. Why waste time you might not have?

Just be aware if you sell / advertise it, we are all going to jump all over the low-mileage 2014 GTS car that needs all fluids changed, tires, new water pump, spark plugs/coils, oil seals (they age and dry up ya know) and whatever else is the latest OMFG scare here. its a dangerous web we weave here on the Rennlist brother...

Do what feels right for you !

Indeed. I have been reading posts on and off since I joined and there is always an interesting mix of opinions, which is what makes it valuable
Heck yes, if I advertise it, there would be some OMFG-scare input and good reasons why I should donate it instead of selling it

I would sell it. You can use the money to invest in something that will appreciate a lot more and won't require upkeep or garage space.

That’s a sound idea, no really, it is - but these cars are 3,000 pounds of emotion and not a cold asset. Isn’t there some saying that goes, “never invest with emotion”, maybe that was from “Wall Street”?

Anyway, to the OP, I have had this same conundrum, but the joy that I get on those rare occassions when I am able to drive my GTS outweighs the gains that I might make from an investment if I sold it.

Yes. This is a love affair that we are talking about. My heart tells me this is the one that I want to grow old with.

Bad investment? Most probably yes. But life is too short. Would have purchased a Honda Accord if it was about rational decisions

I guess I don't know what that feels like. I have never developed emotional attachments to any car.

(1) No asset, tangible or intangible, is guaranteed to provide you a positive return; (2) Cash out at $70k, buy 5yr treasury at 2.44%, (1.0122^10) x $70,000 = $78,868... or approx $1,733 per year for next five years, using simple bond math here; (3) Not taking maintenance costs into account, if earning an extra seventeen hundred bucks a year before taxes provides more value TO YOU than the pleasure you receive from driving the GTS, then sell it; (4) For me the passion I have for the car far exceeds the cash flow derived from the bond so I would hold onto the GTS, especially if she will continue to remain a “low mile” example of a relatively rare car; (5) See 993 Carrera S price history as a comp.

Understood and valid. There is just something about this one. And my road bikes...….still have the first one from 1991 and three more afterwards. Just can't see how I would betray them after so many miles together

Thank you. Fantastic analysis and perspective.

http://howtoporsche.com/911-series/9...r-and-version/

Why are there no 2012 GTS cabs on this list that are not GTS 4s? I have a 12 GTS cab that is not a 4 just a 2

Which brought me to one angle of this dilemma that I don't think has been discussed yet. Although the 4 GTS was built in fewer numbers than the regular RWD GTS, I've seen arguments here and elsewhere that the regular RWD 997 GTS will be and perhaps already is the most desirable of the two. Why? Some see the 4 GTS as a common C4S with the X51 kit, some alcantera, CL wheels most of the time and a few other extras. The "plain" RWD 997 GTS on the other hand is the only 997 wide body with rear wheel drive except for the GT3 RS and the GT2 so a pretty exclusive club. Whether or not there's validity to this argument, I don't know. Time will tell but I can see the reasoning behind it.

Quick Reply: 2012 4GTS w/8,500 miles. Sell it, or keep it?
