08 VS 10
have an 08 911s and I am thinking of trading up to a 2010 911 My car is tiptronic the one I’m looking at is manual. Would there be a noticeable difference between the two and am I going to really notice a decrease in power from a 3.8 to a 3.6
Thanks for any suggestions Prod and cons

Pros: same power, moving to a manual from an auto.
Cons: maybe the color/options?

The base model 997.2 makes almost the same power as 997.1S so with that in mind and going from tip to a manual I don't think you'll notice much of a decrease in power, if any.

I can only find one single independent instrumented test of a base 997.2, and that was with PDK. So the following 997.1S vs. 997.2-base comparisons are not statistically significant. But sharing for what they're worth...
And then these are Porsche's official numbers:

If you are going to a manual transmission you will lose some acceleration over what has been shown for the PDK. The PDK shifts much faster and has better gear spacing.

I feel with 1.1s difference in the 0-1000 meter between a 2005 997.1 Base Manual and a 2012 997.2 S PDK, one can't go wrong with any 997.
Unless I were tracking my car to the point I could push its limits (its, not mine) , I seriously doubt I'd be able to tell the difference between them, and if I did, that it wouldn't be placebo.

Power isn't a big difference and you'll get the more reliable motor in the 2010. MT is definitely going to be more fun and sports car like than the Tip you've been driving.
Biggest difference from .1S to. 2 non S is the lack of PASM, which by itself isn't a big deal, but it keeps you from having the building blocks to replace the stock PASM controller with TPCs DSC fully active suspension controller, which I think may be the single best upgrade for these cars with respect to both comfort and performance. Now if you can find a. 2 base where someone added PASM as an option, that's a no-brainer, but probably fairly rare.
Full leather is the other must have option for me in these cars as it makes the interior much more "appropriate" for a high end luxury sports car.
