I was the high bidder right before the 2 minute mark.....and since I was out I lost reception and I couldn't place a bid quick enough to counter the "new" bid the guy slipped in right at the 2 minute mark....weak move.

I can tell you my bid was legitimate as I'm trying to get into the Porsche scene and am looking for the right 997 turbo car....would have preferred a manual anyway. This one appealed to me since it's white and low mileage.....can't tell any major issues with the car...and happens to be in CA (where I'm at).

Could you tell me more about what you said my bid was removed? Just curious.....I wasn't super happy with the last second bid from the other guy since it's a weak move on an auction with auto-extension....but it is what it is. I always suspected the crazy high asks for 997/997.2 recently are dealers fishing for people....I wanted to confirm where the market is really and this BaT auction along some other sales from there and other sites tells me they aren't trading for anywhere near what some of the asks I've seen around. Either way it'll be a matter of time, this just wasn't meant to be. You guys are playing a great game here on the side watching the auctions. Enjoy!

 

Good to know your bid was legitimate. Not sure if the site was acting funny, but with ~2minutes to go I no longer saw your bid... Maybe it was still there and the site was just acting weird.

Not sure BaTs way of combating fake bidders. No reserve auctions always open the possibility of people trying to 'up' the bid to what they think the car should sell for.

Anyways, hope you can find a turbo in the near future.
