Default Meanwhile in California...

Great Saturday morning drive with pretty eclectic mix of 911s. The 997 represented in a crew that consisted of a GT3 RS, a 991.2 C2S, a 993, an '84 hotrod, and '77 930. I was amazed how well the 930 handled compared to the modern cars. Even on the wet roads we could not keep up with it.

And the excitement for the morning was getting to dig around in the 930 motor. After we stopped for coffee it wouldn't start so we had 3 guys pushing their childhood dream car down the street. It created quite a scene. We were able to track it down to a tripped fuel pump fuse. We also found a distributor wire had broken loose and melted. The theory was it arced when he started it and tripped the fuel pump fuse.

The joy of owning these cars is the adventures and friendships you make along the way.

"One of the joys of owning these cars is the adventures and friendships one makes along the way"

Sorry, couldn't resist! I almost wanted to go with "are" instead of "is", but the subject being "one", I changed my mind!

I love the white GT3 and the Graphite 991.2!

Graphite is such a nice color in person. It's puzzling that it trades at a discount.

That looks like a good time for sure! And definitely, Saturday was the day for a drive (cause it sure wasn't yesterday).

That shot with all of the cars lined up in front of the Wells Fargo bank looks like the start of a remake of the Italian Job - maybe this one is called German Job.

I don't think I've ever seen a 993TT with Carrera Lightweight wheels on it - looks pretty good, but the 930 Turbo is the winner there to me.

Nice diversion! First, I am not very good at grammer and I couldn’t resist either. Second, “One of the joys” is the subject phrase and, as you state, “is” would be the proper verb agreeing with the “One” aspect of “the joys”. But “is” in this context is a linking verb as “One of the joys” is renamed after the verb to “adventures”. Yet “adventures” is plural and “One of the joys” is singular so they do not agree. So you are correct in the first part but maybe so focused on the verb you missed the agreement that the linking verb requires. If I were an editor I would have replaced “One of the joys” with “A joy”. Of course this only matters to those that care about the canons of grammer and usage - and I hate the Oxford comma so what do I know.

At any rate, looks like a fun time with beautiful cars!

That is a well rounded group of 911's for sure! Looks like a great time, despite some minor troubleshooting.

It's not a TT it's a standard narrow-body Carrera and those wheels do look great.

Nice mix of 911s there.

I didn't look at the rear fenders or rear wing carefully enough. Thanks.

@Chris M. - yea that was just a 993 with turbo tail. He has a GT4 and a few others in the garage.

@dawgcatching @Tcc1999 - i changed to "The joy of owning these cars is the grammar lessons you get from RL'ers along the way..." :-)

@wjk_glynn - some air cooled buddies organized that one. PM me your info and will let you know about the next one.

@turbodogs02 - we actually drove down PCH to Bean Hollow Beach with the kids yesterday. It rained on the way down but cleared up by mid-afternoon. The car is now thoroughly trashed. Its got dead bugs up front and sand and potato chips in back.

After two looong weeks of work there is nothing like a quick rip up the PCH to put things back into perspective.
