Function First has a more solid option over Phenix Eng and Alex-mod shim.

I have the Function First shift right, and it’s awesome. Removed all shifter play and much more direct feeling. Second gear entry is especially improved. I’m not sure why you would go through the trouble of pulling out the shifter to just install a single bushing. If you’re removing the shifter, may as well spend a bit more and get the whole Function First kit.

That is a short shift kit, no metal bushings. Had one in my 2005 Boxster.

The Phenix bushing kit would be equivalent to the OEM GT3 shifter found here https://www.suncoastparts.com/produc...T3CONSOLE.html.

wonder why the Function first bushes are a lot longer than the Phenix engineering ones?

Did you do only the shift right kit or cables (or ends) too?

I did the Function First Shift Right bushings and cable ends together -- bought the full set during their Black Friday sale. Not sure how much the cable ends made a difference since I had everything installed at once by my indy shop. The best part is that I get less notchyness going from 1st to 2nd on cold startup, and I can find 2nd gear much easier when downshifting. Before, 2nd was a bit vague. Now, I have much more confidence when changing gears.

The ball bearings are mounted in the base of each "bushing barrel" section, so that adds to the height - the lever mechanism is fully and only supported via the ball bearings.

I just did the install of the Phenix bushings. Much easier than I expected.

Couple points:
1. use a dremel with cut-off wheel to remove the stock bushings - took 10-15 min to get them out and didn't have plastic flying all over from braking them with pliers.
2. a brace to hold in neutral would be nice, but is in no way necessary.

Check out the Function First Shift Right shifter kit. It dramatically improved the quality of shifts. Improved shift feel and get rid of slop from the old worn plastic bushings.
