I have a 2012 C4 GTS 6MT, alcantara delete (apparently rare), short shifter, aerokit (and some other options). I knew it was rare but didn't realize the 997.2 GTS's were that rare as I do see a reasonable amount of 991 GTS's.

One guy this past summer was telling me the alcantara delete and aerokit are rare options. The alcantara delete and aerokit, plus the condition were the reasons I paid the large premium (IMHO) over a regular S.
You have the car I want. What color. Mine has to be in white or black.

PAG closed the book on the 997 GTS in November of 2011. That is, there were plenty of model year 2012s (I have one that was built in July 2011) but I am pretty sure that the production line was shut down prior to 1/1/12 so there would have been no physical builds in 2012. I suppose this was because they were pushing the 991 introduction pretty heavily and, in fact, 991s and 997 builds may have had a short overlap toward the end of 2011.

Humm, I wonder why they stopped making the GTS in 2012. If you look at the 2012 list, all of the 4 and Turbo used the same wide body, same as GTS! It did not make any economically sense to exclude 1 model unless they knew something that we didn't. How hard could it be to add one model when you know Porsche made 30+ model for 997.2!

Porsche usually does that with the turbo for some reason, releasing a Turbo S version (if not already available) as a sort of model swan song. In 2005, they released the Carrera versions of the 997.1, but a 2005 Turbo was a 996 Turbo S. I believe they did the same thing during the transition from the 997.1 to 997.2 but am not 100% certain on that one. It's likely the Turbos (or major components of them) are built on a different production line and once they change over the mass production lines to the new model, they don't want to lose the revenue from potential Turbo buyers for that year, so they pump it up one more time and finish that years run, then once the Carrera lines are running smoothly, focus their efforts on converting the Turbo lines. The Targas are produced in pretty limited numbers, so it wouldn't surprise me if they're built on that same Turbo line, especially since all 997 Targas are widebody cars like all Turbos.

White. I initially wanted blue to be honest, but the white is excellent.

The only thing I think i'm going to change on it is to install the black centerlocks. Not a huge fan of the grey ones the car comes with.

really? I have a set. I think about selling them but then I also like the idea of having them as a back up. I like the white with grey wheels on mine.

I’d guess you are spot on about the timing of the Turbo release. The Turbo is their Halo car and I suppose PAG would want all the hiccups worked out in the next generation first. But it also may be a development issue. It could be as simple as a six to twelve month lag in engineering and testing the next gen Turbos. I’m pretty sure if sales of the previous generation Turbo were significantly impacted PAG would not have such a lag.

I think we're talking about different things. I'm talking about the actual centerlock nuts, not the wheels themselves.

haha, that’s a great idea anyway. Got the black ones for my new wheels, they are much better. The silver center lock nuts looked pretty worn out.

Ha, shows what I know. I didn’t even know there were AWD GTS cars.

Yours is beautiful, by the way. Meteor Gray is the best color, but I’m a little biased.
