The 992 uses GPS and traffic patterns to predict PDK shift points for you! Damn, if I was rich, I would buy me one of them.

Great, so I'm in the open car pool lane while traffic is built up in the 3 lanes next to me and now my car starts shifting at 1,500 rpm for me,instead of 4,000. Hope it's not raining too so those new water sensors in the rear fenders don't further limit the power I can decide to put down or I may never make it to my destination before tomorrow.
There's useful tech and there's tech for the sake of tech and all the 992 stuff seems to fall into the latfer category. Ridiculous..
Anyone who decides to own one of these newer cars out of warranty is crazy. 997 values just went up again.

Hang onto those those 997's - the last of the (somewhat) analog cars. Like 993's, the 997 will be the most desirable someday.

Apparently it can be overridden in manual mode. I think this hi-tech stuff is really cool.... as long as I don't have to pay for it when it breaks. I am a software developer and I have lots of experience in statistical analysis and data interpretation. So this application of technology really interests me. The reality is Porsche could do a lot more. They are just giving you small doses of autonomous control so you don't get spooked too much. I don't view this as a good thing or bad thing, I just observe. I'm much too old to worry about driving anything 5 - 10 years from now. The 997 may be very desirable, but someday in the future you will only be able to drive it on certain roads.
