A manual shift **** hand-crafted by Manuel. I see what you did there.

If you really want to impress your husband with your 997 knowledge, buy him some clear side marker lenses.

The most useful thing I have bought for my 997 was these mats... .

If he prefers carpet, Lloyd mats are really nice... .

Happy hunting!

Function First shift ****! Plus a delrin spare if the car sits in the sun for extended periods of time (easy swap).

More expensive, but a Numeric short shifter is lovely too.

I like Weathertech products, but I bought these floor mats for my 997:

https://floormats.dreamcarz1.org

Made in China, but when they buggered up my order (sent me a passenger side floor mat cut for a cabrio's Bose subwoofer), they sent me a replacement, no questions asked. Also, they have more coverage than the Weathertechs. Might not arrive in time for Christmas though.

How about a radar detector with a bespoke Blendmount mount? Also get a hardwire kit for the radar detector too. I have an Escort Passport or something, but plenty of folks like the Valentine 1 detectors too.

Thank you all so much. There are some great ideas here already. To answer some questions, his car is black with red calipers. We live in East Texas. He does most of the work on it himself - and likes to wash it when he doesn't have anything else to do. Thank you!

Well, it is not specifically 997 related, but if he likes to wash his car (which is black and therefore a profession and not a hobby or passtime), maybe a deionized water system (won’t leave water spots). If interested just search CR spotless, although there are other brands; cost is around $300 plus $50 to $75 or so for replacement filters.

Porsche Driving Experience
EDIT: You could do this in LA and pair it with a visit to the Petersen museum mentioned earlier.

I know what you mean though and am just being a smart-a**

That's a good idea. I need to get down to Atlanta and do one of those. I think the one that includes the wet skidpad with the kicker plate would be pretty neat.

So when I saw this post I thought hey this is something my wife would do. Ha ha. As I followed it, I thought more and more about it and sure enough yes that is my wife’s post. Yes I have a good wife. She said that she got several good ideas and I would just need to see. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions and I will let you know what she decides after Christmas. Thanks to everyone for the ideas.

If your hubby parks his car in the garage for say a week at a time, these Coverking ‘moving blanket’ style covers offer good/padded protection. Will run you ~$400...

She definitely is. I once heard a man say 90% of a man’s happiness or misery comes in the one decision of who they marry. I choose very well. She on the other hand choose poorly. Ha ha.
