Lighter with better performance and possible electrification. I don't see a problem with any of those things.
Unlike many (most?), I've never particularly cared for the looks of a 911. Please don't hang me in effigy or create a voodoo doll of me complete with pins!!!
I own mine for what it drives like and damn the looks or what anyone else may think. I'll confess, over time I have come to better appreciate it's appearance.
That being said, I'm still in love with my 2010 C4S PDK and am not looking for a replacement. But I think it's great that Porsche continues to innovate and improve performance of the 911 with each model.

Let the valuation threads begin!
I just drove mine 150 miles to see what small towns around us are having a fish fry for their VFD (that's a thing in Tejas, apparently). Hate to think how much $$$ I lost in the process.

The mileage is just a number with no real meaning when there's less than 200 in the world.
Also, it's objectively better. I had a realization as I put close to 2000 miles on Onyxia this week. Porsche built the C2GTS for the "purists." People who insist on clear-wrapping every inch of the car, who won't take it out if it's more than 65.5% humidity or >5% chance of rain or construction within 2 miles of their chosen route. People who are more concerned with the 'investment' in other words, have no intention of actually driving it, think that track days move the decimal points to the left, and insist they know everything there is to know about Porsche.
The C4GTS coupe doesn't go up for sale because it was built exclusively for people who not only drive their Porsche, but drive it daily, and as it was meant to be driven. I've driven both. So yes, I'm completely serious. I'm sure there'll be a hew and cry demanding I be banned for daring to say the C2GTS is inferior to the C4GTS. How dare one of the extremely few people on earth who have actually driven one of these unicorns objectively evaluate them, right? The C4GTS launches harder, handles better, is far more visceral, utterly raw, and is a much harder car to master. It welcomes you with open arms, and then kicks you in the nads when you think you're good enough to really wring it out. "Oh, you think you got it? NOPE, HAVE SOME UNDERSTEER. Try again, buffoon."
And the C4GTS is not going to get any more common. Go look up the part numbers for the C4GTS driveline. I'll wait. Yep - zero C4S content. My dealer is gonna love dealing with mine. (Yes, all the sarcasm.) In other words, if it ain't the axle hubs? You really do not wanna break it. The front diff is the Turbo/Turbo S unit, $9600 part. But holy hell. There is nothing that drives like it. Nothing. Period.
But seriously, why the hell would you drive in Texas weather unless you have a strong desire to drown to death in your own sweat? I just got back from Austin and pretty much the outdoor activities were to-and-from air conditioned spaces only.

I for one do not like the look of the car. It just isn't for me.

The worst time to go to Austin and Houston is the summer time. I dont go there unless it is fall or winter.
Nice to see to made it back safe.

I've been following the thread in the 992 section and it mostly looks like a lightly revised 991.2 to me, not a drastic generational overhaul. I've never really fallen in love with the 991, though, so it gets the same "eh, it's cool, I guess" reaction as those do.
Yeah, I've seen Aston Martin-esque lines in the 991s since they came out. Something about the higher belt line, more squashed/sleek look, thicker rear and front ends.

This is my least favorite portion of the 991 and looks like it will remain so with the 992. At least they broke up the lower part of the rear bumper with some black here and there but I'll take the rear of a 997 all day over either the 991 or 992.

If I did not have the ventilated seats, I would not have survived. And for those who doubt just how ridiculous it has been - I had to fly the spoiler for large portions of the trip because the oil temp was approaching the 250+ mark. (Coolant was fine, of course.)
Frankly, if I'd been driving a 992, I'm pretty sure at least half the state would have tried to run me off the road in revulsion at those looks. Presuming I survived the hit to the rear when they couldn't see the taillights they already don't look for.

I don't mind the looks of the 991 and 992, they're still only an evolution, and it's still clearly a 911. You could probably body-colour much of the blacked out stuff to simplify the shape. I do mind the increases in size, weight and complexity.

I like the 991 interior styling, curious what Porsche will do in that department with the 992.
in the end, the 992 doesn't make me love the 997 any less. Maybe that will change after a drive.
