Default 2nd time HPFP replacement 997.2?

Learned that my car's high pressure fuel pump decided to call it a day. A P1026 code was thrown, and scouring the forums had me conclude this must be it. Rough start, CEL, low power mode, sounded familiar.

However I did call the dealer and see that a recall was done for my car for the HPFP, and now we're back at it again (84k mi). What are the odds this would be warrantied? Any tips?

And if not, is this the best source (and price) to get a new replacement? (realizing they are already on the 6th revision of the part)

How easily can it be done DIY without moving any coolant hoses?

Try to get Porsche to pay for it. They have been replacing the HPFP for free on cars that are out warranty (mine included). Since this is the second failure, I think you might have a good chance regardless of the mileage.

You don’t need to call Porsche North America directly by the way. Just take it to your dealer and ask them nicely to put in the request.

Good luck!

That's it. It's a recall item and whether it's your first, second or third shouldn't matter. Had mine done recently and warranty wasn't even brought up. Only issue I can think of is if the replacement pump was a different, new and improved part that is no longer covered by the recall. Only one way to find out.

Can the car be driven a few miles safely with this issue to the dealership?

Would you happen to know mileage on your first failure? Mine was replaced at 46k and on my 101k now and hopefully HPFP is still healthy.

I drove mine to the dealer, less than 10 miles from my house. It was not fun, sputtering with very little power. I had approx. 85k miles on the car the second time the pump went out. The dealer said it could stall out at any time.

Mine wouldn't even start so there's your answer to my situation. Even if yours will start, when will the pump quit altogether? Half way to the dealer?

I drove mine quite a few miles in limp mode to the dealer. It takes a little while to get up to traffic moving speed but it was doable in my particular case.

Local dealer I dropped it off at declined to do the repair even after I reached out to PCNA. They weren't able to cite any specific reason for me, which is frustrating.

Any options I have here? there are so many threads online about 2nd and even 3rd HPFPs that there's enough supporting instances where this has been covered.

Coolant has to be drained and it is right next to water pump. So if you haven't replaced water pump yet go ahead and do it along with HPFP. Should be no more labor to get it done.

2009 C2S 127K miles

Honestly, while I don;t like paying for failed pumps, they do fail. You do own the car...... Despite some comments here, you need to just pay up. I honestly don't believe these HPFPs are a defective or chronic problem.
