997 vs plane to Vegas from LA
I raced a co worker from Ontario airport to Vegas in my 997. She called for a ride to the airport and I immediately drove to Vegas.
Care to guess who won?

I'm assuming you won since you're bragging. haha
I bet she took an hour or so extra to get to the airport on time, TSA, waited for her flight then probably got delay (if it was Southwest). The flight is about 45 mins and you probably didn't have an accident on the 15 and no CHP scares.

You're the winner, regardless of the time aspect. You're in Lost Wages with a Porsche, & unless she's flying private, she's likely sitting next to some sweaty dude & has a stewardess whose been around since the Wright Brothers!

Now race home! If you leave on a Sunday she will win hands down.
If not a weekend trip I’d drive. Have done it from Palm Springs many of times and would be great in a 911. However I hear sundays are horrible leaving with traffic.

I think she was doing it wrong. I take that flight often and can walk out my front door and be inside the terminal in Vegas in under 2 hours.
I love the 997 - but it isn't that fast...

I still remember the day I got a call from a buddy who got a ticket in the mail with a court date for getting clocked over 100 by a CHP plane while in his vette doing a Vegas run. Supposedly CHP has no plane budget anymore but the traffic on weekends ot Vegas SUCKS.
That said Just did this today, left hotel at 7am for 8:30 flight was home by 10:15. You'd be hard pressed to beat that driving. LAS to OC

My fastest enrutoe time from LA to LAS was 30 minutes in the middle of the night in a Lear 28 at Fl-210. This was mid 1996 and landed on 1 Left at full throttle. As a non pilot, anything under 5 hours of drive time, a person can beat the door to door time by driving. A normal person has to drive to the airport, park, go through TSA, and wait. On this route, LAX to LAS, the longer in the day, the longer in delays. Especially on SWA. they plan on a 30 minute turn time.....and dont hit the numbers. At the end of the day those numbers stack up to delays.

Hard to imagine someone driving 115mph on the Interstate wouldn't attract any attention for 2.5 hours, but OK, whatever you say
