Default Help: Name that HRE Wheel

I am looking to purchase these wheels and refurbish. I searched online to see if I could find the model number/name of this wheel but only found similar wheels. If anyone knows this wheel please post reply on model number and thoughts of value if you have some. HRE 19" 3 pc for Porsche NB

Thank you,

Noel

I agree, look to be 545 and will clean up nicely with a little elbow grease.

Those are HRE 545's. Hard to evaluate the price without seeing the condition of all four wheels, but looking at the one photo there, they look like they're in need of some TLC.

If you're interested in having HRE refinish those for you, all we would need is the serial number engraved on the backside of the wheel, and for you to email LucasG@HREWheels.com with whatever you'd like to have them refinished in and we'll quote that out for you!

I would only let HRE restore them. Youll get a %100 wheel

Thanks for the help, after I inspect and purchase them I’ll contact HRE for refurbishment. At under 1000 for the set I think it’s well worth it.

Wow someone went out of their way to not take care of those wheels. Should clean up or restore nicely and look terrific. If they were mine I would go with painted centers and polished hardware and outer rim. Cheers and best of luck

When were those produced? To the OP. Had a set of HRE P40's. Amazing quality and finish. Put almost 40K miles on them and they still looked brand new so I can definitely vouch for the brand and their products. What you have should be well worth the cost of refinishing as long as it's the real thing which the serial number should confirm. No affiliation with HRE btw.

Assuming the wheels are entirely polished aluminum, and you have the time and patience, you can refinish the wheels yourself. If they're clear coated, none of my post applies unless you elect to remove the clear coat and go with polished finish.

In 1996 I acquired a new set of HREs with painted centers for my M3 after a couple of potholes bent every stock cast wheel to some extent. Originally the HREs had painted centers, but I had them redone by HRE to remove the paint after several stone chips. Three years later I badly pitted every wheel after returning from O'fest with metallic brake pads installed and encountering rain along the way. I thought the wheels were just dirty until I washed the car the next weekend and the thousands of dark rusty spots could not be removed by soap or polish.

With nothing to lose, I used two wet sanding grits (emery cloth) followed by metal polish to completely restore the wheels to like new, completely by hand. So try this first, if so inclined. Metal polish may be all you need. And there are several drill attachment options these days that will spare your fingers and may also clean up the fasteners and holes. It's just aluminum (except the fasteners)!
