Default Dsc controller road block

I have a 997.1S and am trying to download everything to the computer to get started. I get this error message when I plug in the DSC box to the usb cable. Please advise what I should try next?

What error do you get?

What version of DSC box do you have? Was it an early 3-mode one with the flashing light on the button or a newer 2-mode one where the light is either on or off? If it's a 3-mode one there were some of those that could not be written to with the software and TPC will have to swap you a new 2-mode one you can write to. There were a few lucky .1 owners that got a 3-mode one that could be written to, but the rest of us had to swap to 2-mode.

I haven’t seen any lights come on yet. I called DSC today. I’m not computer savvy. I think that I have downloaded the drivers probably 30 plus times. They recommended that I go into my computer somehow and delete everything and start over. Now I have to figure out where to go in the computer and delete all my mistakes.

Did you but the DSC box new from them or from someone on the forum. Is the box itself a white or gold color?

When I'm talking about lights, I mean replacing the stock PASM controller in the car with the DSC controller as is and pushing the PASM button with the light in the corner of it. On old versions, that light will be off or blink a different number of times based on the mode your in. On newer versions the light is either on or off like the stock setup - off for normal and on for sport.

Since you have a .1, did you also install the 3-axis accelerometer into the car and tie that into the canbus wiring that's required for the DSC controller to work? Did you install the accelerometer in the front or rear of the car?

I bought it from a member here on the forum. It’s gold color. I have not hooked it up to the car yet. I do have the 3 axis accelerometer. I messed up by downloading drivers and other things too many times. After I get past this hurdle I will be smooth sailing.

I'm pretty sure the gold colored ones are the old ones and the white ones the newer ones. Did the guy you bought it from ever write profiles to it or use it with the default ones the way it came from TPC? If the latter, you probably have one of the unwritable versions.

Again, what happens if you plug it into the car? If you haven't been able to write to it, the preloaded profiles should still be hard coded in the box.

It came from a 07 GT3. He did write codes to it. I have not hooked it to the car yet.
