Have a look at the front wheels of almost any BMW. Most guys with Porsches fight this battle unless, like you, we have arrived in the promised land of PCCBs.

I did - I saw you mentioned PCCBs. Just clarifying for others. PCCBs are noted in his signature too.

Cleaned wheel with Optimum Gloss Coating (applied fall 2017):

Dirty wheel, with over 2,000 miles, no washes, just OGC and the Armor All topper:

If you are being scientific, you may also want to also consider the reason why dust is adhering to your rims. The short reason is static electricity (wheel spinning though air generates static electricity which dust “sticks” to; just like rubbing a ballon agianst your hair will result in it sticking to the wall). So, in addition to pads, you may want to research some anti-static compound or treatment for your wheels. Good luck

After every 3 to 4 washing cycles I apply a thin layer of fresh wax. Works perfect.
That wheel cleaner looks like it goes on kind of green then reacts with the brake dust and turns purply - same thing that Sonax Full Effect does, which is what I use. Wonder if it's the same product rebranded for different countries. Works great though.

I clean with Sonax then apply Armor All Outlast spray after wiping and drying the wheels - just did the Cayenne after our beach trip.

Do you plan on braking in circles? Sounds pretty dangerous to me.

Peace

Thanks, that makes sense, but I only set out to see if the Hawk PC pads would produce less dust than stock pads and if so, what color that dust would be. TBH, I did not know about static electricity or Outlast. So, I have learned extra things.

I did not expect to feel a difference, but now having driven 180 miles with this configuration, I can feel no difference in the braking performance. Mario Andretti might find a difference at the limit, but me, nope, they're all just brake pads.

It may be too late to do, but it would be interesting to measure the thickness of both pads and rotors before and after your experiment to see which pad would wear faster (you could even extrapolate expected pad life) and whether or not there is a negative impact on rotor life by going to a pad that creates less dust.
