Default 997.1 aerokit question

Shopping for a 997.1 online and came across an 06 S that seems like it might be too good of a deal — 47k miles, $35k.

The VIN lookup shows the car has XAA "aerokit."

But in the pictures the car has no rear wing and no side skirts. It does, however, have this front spoiler:

As far as I can tell, this IS a factory 997.1 aerokit front spoiler, but it looks like the bottom two inches of it have literally been CUT AWAY.

Is that what it looks like to others?

The carfax is "clean" but it has 8 owners, and I'm thinking all this adds up to "if it sounds too good to be true, it is..."

Its missing the lip on the bottom. Theyre replaceable because theyre easy to trash. You can get them from $99 to $220 depending on which you like

What did they do on the rear when they removed the aero kit fixed wing - ducktail, different fixed spoiler, OEM rear decklid. If they changed to a stock lid or a TT tail, make sure it goes up and down based on speed since removing the OEM fixed wing means the active aero needed to be coded back in to function with a PIWIS or Durametric Pro.

that bumper looks like it fits like crap. I would be careful since the lip is missing and the fitment is bad it might have been replaced or hit pretty hard

Thanks, all. This confirmed my worries. I'm not sure this car is even worth the expense of a PPI, since I'd be really surprised if the paint and bodwork isn't extensive on it.

the 977 aerokit never came with side skirts. When i look at the front bumper fitment looks the same as any other front bumper its just missing the 100 lip that takes 90 seconds to install.

Alot of folks take off the rear wings. Id never do it but people do. You have a "modified" car now because of that so let the price reflect that.

Do a ppi. >>>Edited:>>> I was responding to another post that had car that showed turbo wheels. Yours does not. Thats fine << End edit>>>>

This isnt a clean original car but i think its wort a ppi. If you point out these issues and snag it for 31 grand or so assuming no accidents and clean ppi you may have done well to save a few grand, particularly if you dont like the rear wing anyways.

Tap it and see if it's fiberglass or plastic. As others said, it's missing the lip. I want to put the Aerokit bumper on my 997.1

Hate to hijack the post, new to Rennlist but have browsed around for quite some time, just now pulling the trigger on a 997.1 though.

Where are the best places to source the front aerokit? I have seen a plethora of places that sell it and prices ranging anywhere from $500-$3500. Also, I can't seem to find the rear aerokit at all except eBay, which I would prefer to stay away from unless you know of a seller that has quality/oem parts.

Thanks a lot in advance.

I just contacted Gaudin. $1326 and it'll take 4-6 weeks to arrive since it's coming from Germany

Just a heads up. The front aero, though beautiful imho, is painfully low. At a minimum, put film on the splitter. In a perfect world I'd have a "daily driver" splitter, and another in the garage for "show" weekends.

Get the $99 splitter off eBay. It’s polyurethane so nice and flexible, black primer color goes well even unpainted, and you can replace it when it gets too chewed up.

I agree it is very aggressive. I am not worried about it since this car will see 2k-3k miles a year at best and i am used to it, every car i have owned i have slammed on coilovers or air suspension. The 911 will be getting the air suspension treatment.

I did the aero bumper and I just installed the gt3 cup lip on it. my car is also on coils and I drive it pretty low. the bumper/combo looks so bad *** but it will scrape everywhere! I scraped my lip pretty bad the first day I put it on. I will have to sand and dye it back to black in order for it to look good again. but its worth it imo, the car looks so damn good and once you learn the angles and know the limits of what the car will make it over you will be fine.

I've been through 2 OEM lips and feel your pain, on eBay there is a seller that sells cheapo aftermarket lips that are already black. I can't recommend them enough, the fitment isnt 100%, but its easily 95%, lasts longer, and most of all no more painting!
