A silicone squeegee will be much easier and cheaper

I would pay extra for a rear wiper delete. Ugly and useless on the 997 and 993 both. Rain sheets off if you’re going 5 mph especially with a coat of Rainex. As far as morning dew just hit the rear window defog and it’ll be gone in a minute.

The rear window wiper option code on the 997.1/.2 was “I425”
You can download the parts catalog for the model you're interested in, see https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...he-s-site.html
Then search for every part associated with I425, that should get you the parts list.

most folks try to delete it. Like Pete said, for the morning swipe, just have a small sqeegue in hand.

I like my rear wiper and while rainex helps there is not a substitute for a wiper, especially in a rainstorm. Rear wipers are more common in Europe than here in America, but to each their own. To add it I am thinking it would be very expensive. Pretty sure that will take drilling into the glass if I remember correctly. No thank you.

I doubt it would be cost effective after the fact.
Wiper motor assembly and all the additional wiring, new stalk on the steering column, new rear glass, new rear cosmetic covers etc etc.
Just drive really fast and the water will blow off.

Not really worried about cost. I added the rear wiper and a rear washer to my 964 and used it often over the 13 years i drove it daily.
Thanks for option code, I will check it out.

First post i ever saw with someone wanting to add the rear wiper. As others have said, most who have it try to figure out how to get rid of it. It's ugly, takes away from the look of the rear of the car and you can accomplish with a towel or 2-3 minutes on the road what that thing does with a swipe or two. I had it on my -06 C4S and the first thing I did when I brought the car home was remove it. Can't remove the hardware that's mounted in the glass but just getting rid of that big blade itself was a big improvement.

As a teen, I remember seeing a Japanese Prelude with a rear wiper. I thought it looked pretty cool.
Didn't have a rear wiper on my 997. As a four season dd, I think it would come in pretty handy.
Sitting in traffic in a heavy snow storm, it would pile up, even with the rear defrost on.
I would certainly consider ordering it, if I was specking from new. Don't think I would go through the effort of converting.
Too many other projects to consider.

This is why I wished I had one. Snow. And the chalky residue from dirt/salt/mag chloride spray that gets kicked up. It quickly obscures everything.

I like the looks of the rear wiper too. Wish I had one, and I live in Dallas where its true use would be seldom. Funny how it’s a polarizing feature, aesthetically. I guess everything is...I for one think Aerokit tails look cartoonish but understand to many they’re the bee’s knees.
