not sure about programming on a 997.1 but you can do a hack.

FYI, I'm looking at selling my LED tail lights and front fogs (switching things up for something different). They're in like-new condition. VIP Motoz clear (non-tinted) red tail lights with smooth lightbar style running light. Front led fog/running lights/turn signal. See my other posts.
PM me if interested.

I assume you have halogen lights in your 997.
Low beam is a H7 55W halogen bulb - a good recommendation is the Osram Night Breaker Laser
It throws around 1500 lumens of light which should be ok - better than the one that came from the factory.
This being a "standard" halogen bulb, it might be a bit yellowish (3500K or so I think, but in that area)

I don't know if aftermarket LED bulbs are functionally superior and reliable to existing solutions yet.
H7 is the size you need to get - 6000K might have a bit of a blue tinge. It looks cool, but it might rob away 10% of the output (lumens) compared to 4500K.
5500K is a good balance to get a pure white colour and still not lose much lumens.
I did this "research" a while back and decided to do a HID upgrade for my car (35W ballast, 5500K bulbs that give out 3400 lumens)
I went with the Morimoto Elite system (sold by LightWerkz). If you choose this route, you will need the "H7B" type bulb.
It's still sitting in my garage shelf - I'll get to it one of these days.
Don't worry, since the 997 came with projectors, you won't end up blinding everyone on the road with HID bulbs.
You might need to adjust the level correctly to have the right cutoff line.
I think the high beam is a H9 and unfortunately we don't have a lot of options there.
There's a "standard" crap bulb - but it's the high beam - which you would use rarely (unless you're one of "those" drivers)
If you are going the HID route, in theory you could find a bi-xenon HID bulb and feed the high beam power wire to it so that you have HID high beams as well.
I haven't looked into how easy it is to do for a 997 yet.. but I'm fine with just low beams being HID.

IIRC the S cars came with the Xenons as standard. For us plebes that have a base Carrera, it was an option.
You can go to https://vinanalytics.com/ and put in your car's VIN and it will show the list of options the car was ordered with.
P74 is the option for the "Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package"
If so, then you will need the Xenon D2S bulbs. The halogen light's color is more yellow whereas the Xenon lamps are white(r).
Just hop over to PelicanParts and put in your car's details and it will show you what bulbs you need.
You don't need to buy it from them necessarily, but you can see what specification you need the bulbs in.
Philips 85122C1, Hella D2S 4300K, Bosch D2S are all available.
