The stickiness is from plasticizers oozing out of the polymer. Whoever specced them effed up on the materials of compatibility. As noted above, replace them.

2 weeks ago, I was driving my GTS, then I touched my radio **** and it is so sticky. But nothing is in my fingers when I look at it. i thought since it just came from the dealer that the mechanic used dirty fingers. Then I realized the sticky radio *****. Thats what happens when they leave the car under the sun.

Try cleaning them first. I wrote some tips with photos here:

Note that to remove the 997.1 ***** you can just pull them out. The 997.2 ***** are different and you need to remove a cap to get access to T-6 torx screws.

Rennlist software not showing the love for k-****?
$20 seems a little steep. Given that this issue has existed forever, I'm surprised we don't have aftermarket ones for half the price. Maybe I shouldn't have sold my spare radio.

Really? 20 bucks is stretching the household budget? Why would the aftermarket come up with an alternative to a 20 oem part?

If I'm not mistaken, there are lots of aftermarket products that are replacements for sub $20 parts. It's probably a volume issue (no pun intended).
I seldom look at $$$ savings, always percent and if there's money to be saved then I'm all over it.

And the same thing happens in a few months. Clean your old oneswith hand sanitizer and they will look new and be permanently fixed. I just sent new ones back that came with my new climate control switches. After comparing them and then realizing they would get sticky again I re-cleaned mine and they are perfect and will not get sticky again; sent the old "new" ones back and saved 26$ and will not have to deal with them again.
