Keep in mind, a Fister D exhaust can be resold or will be worth something to an enthusiast. A muffler welded together by some random person less so. So, if it's under a $200 diff, go with Fister.
I'll second the question of replacing the plastic in the SSK. Anyone done that?

I've considered the SSK mod before but have never got around to it.. maybe some day..
Swing, are you a member of the Mav region of PCA? We are a pretty active group here in N Texas..

I recently upgraded my OEM SSK with the FF kit. Also adjusted the cables with the aligment tool and changed to a FF billet shifter **** with the longer shaft. Really happy with the result. I know the longer shaft defeats the purpose of the SSK somewhat but the improved ergonomics makes up for it.

I upgraded my GTS manual to the OEM SSK and noticed a marked improvement in shift precision. I always wondered if the OEM SSK plastic bushings can be replaced with the GT3 metal bushings. If so, is it an easy DIY?
Your help is much appreciated.

Those are some solid mods. I bet the Fisters sound awesome.
Some info on the shifter unit:
OEM Carrera and GT3 shifters are exactly the same except for metal bushings. Only OEM SSK has shorter throw and plastic bushings:

Nothing wrong with going OEM for reliability. For those comfortable with the DIY, you can make you own GT3 shifter out of a Carrera unit with the exact same metal bushings for $65:

yes, super easy
These guys make it way too hard on themselves.
Don't use a screwdriver or a knife to cut the tabs (wtf). Use a small chisel and hammer.
Don't use a needle nose pliers on the end to rotate the plastic bushing (wtf). Use a channel lock around the whole outer part of the bushing and turn like you would a pipe. Way more leverage.
This should not take longer than 10-15 min to do.

+ 1 on the chisel and hammer part. Takes forever otherwise! And using needle nose pliers to turn a round plastic thing that is fitted tightly is just stupid..
Oh, and wear eye protection when cutting the plastic tabs. Those suckers ricochet like bullets.

Does anyone know the actual Porsche code for the shifter and not the SKU part number from Suncoast.
Trying to find the right part for my 997.2 GTS, don’t want the SSK but prefer the GT3 shifter with the metal bushings. My local dealer can’t find it in their system.
Thanks in advance.
