Door Ding FML
I've never been more careful about parking my car as I am now with my 997 4S. But after getting a car wash today, I noticed a ding on my driver side door! WTF?! How much would this cost me at a shop? Should I try those ding repair kits? Anyone have a recommendation on ding remover kits? FMFL!

Paintless dent repair (PDR) is what you want. I did this to my Merc a couple of years ago and the dent is totally gone, and it was right on the body seam.
This is not a DIY as Porsche body panels are aluminum.
Ask your dealer or favourite bodyshop who they use.
My PDR guy ran a promo online when I went; 2 dents the size of a quarter for $35. Mega deal.
One dent should run you about $60 or so.

Door ding
I noticed a ding on my 997 gts. It was on the driver side rear shoulder. Yes, right on the beautiful wide arch above rear wheel. Was a soft round notch with a diameter on order of a quarter. Ouch. Broke my heart. Even thinking of it now makes me cringe. I took it to dent dominator in Raleigh, nc.
Could not be happier with the result. 100% gone For under $200.
Good Luck, please post your results.

I have had many PDR guys work on my cars over the years. Some are better than others, so get some recommendations from other guys who are as meticulous as you. When I found a guy that performed miracles and I could recognize that he was a dent removal god, then I made good friends with him. I recommend him to all my friends and he always takes good care of me and gives me good deals.
Depending on how ****/meticulous you are... I would not recommend you doing this yourself. You could pull the metal out too far or stretch it by accident. Not saying you can't buy tools and learn yourself, but I would definitely have the first few dent repairs done by a professional. Should never cost you more than $100 to do a couple dings per side. Most of these door dings can be rubbed out from the inside in less than 20 minutes unless it requires body panel removal or worse case scenario, drilling an access hole that is then plugged up with rubber plug.
Door dings are one of my biggest pet peeves
Best of luck

+6 for paint-less dent repair. Some ******* opened their door on my rear quarter panel and put a dent in it. $100 and 1hr later it was good as new. It is a bit of an art - and you need to confirm they know how to work on 997s. Every model has different access ports in the body panels. In my case he had to take off part of my rear bumper to get behind my rear quarter panel.

This is why I have my PDR guy on speed dial, just in case

PDR should get you there. When I went to go pick up my GTS from the dealer during purchase I found an undisclosed small dent.. told them they'd better get the dent guy over here if they want to sell the car. Dent guy came and worked on it for an hour and it was perfect. I couldn't even tell you exactly where it was now that it's been a couple of years.

That stinks, but it'll be fine. A good PDR guy/gal can work miracles.
