Default Help: 997.2tt code p1372

So my 997.2tt through a check engine light. When I scan it with an obd2 scanner it shows a code p1372. The car seems to run fine but that error code is a concern. I tried searching the web and can't find specific information for the 997s.

My mechanic looked at the car and the error was coming from bank 1. He cleaned and switched the intake lift solenoid from bank 1 to bank 2 to see if the error would follow. It was explained that this was done in order to see if the issue would change from bank 1 to bank 2 thus trying to eliminate unnecessay parts replacing. After clearing the code I drove the car for about 80 miles a the code came back. I was On the highway, driving normally at about 65mph and the check engine light popped back on. From what I understand the codes are specific to each bank and if it was a bad intake lft solenoid then the code number would have changed to bank 2 with a different code. The P1372 code seems to be consistent. The car seems to run fine but the check engine light with that code keeps coming back.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and how did you solve it?

P1372 is a camshaft position sensor or valve lift control sensor error

Hey, any resolution to this? I have gotten this code off and on in my 2007 911 Turbo. It seems to run fine but it is inconsistent. I can drive for hundreds of miles and it does not come on and then all of a sudden, the check engine light. I check and it is a P1372. I clear it out since it does not have the other codes associated with a spun camshaft. It stays away or a while then comes back again. The articles linked to this are not my issues.

No solution yet.
I'm also having the code come back and pop up intermittently. I'll erase the code and put some miles on the car and the code comes back. I have noticed that the vehicle idles rough intermittently as well.

So I finally got the issue resolved. Car seems to be running 100%.There were two solenoids for the VVT that had to be replaced. Bank 1 was intermittent and bank 2 was dead. The parts were $200 each (CAD) plus 5 hours labor.

Interesting. That would match the code. My car had the "Hydraulic Valves" replaced on both sides in Oct 2017. Based on the part number on the invoice (99610530104), I assume those are the same things you are speaking about. That was before I bought the car. The code started to show up (P1372) in June of this year. I find it hard to believe that those would go bad already but i guess it is possible. Do you have the part number(s) of the ones used in your vehicle that you can post here? I think P1372 is for BANK 1 which is the passenger side right?

I think the Porsche techs might have more advanced scanners than the independent mechanic I was previously dealing with. The OBD2 scanner was only reporting the P1372 error code.

Here is the notes from my Porsche invoice.
"Confirmed MIL on steady, vehicle idles really rough. Connected battery maintainer and produced val. scanned for faults, P1372 & P1373 present in DME for faulty variable valve lift solenoids on both bank 1 and 2. Performed drive links test for each solenoid, bank 1 can be heard activating, bank 2 cannot. Bank one fault is intermittent, bank 2 fault is static. Checked wiring to bank 2 solenoid and compared to bank 1 - wiring is OK. Suspect bank 2 is sticking. Replaced bank 1 and bank 2 valve lift solenoids."

The parts replaced are Porsche part number 9A110530803. These parts appear to sell for about $143 USD or $211 CAD.

Hope this helps.

How much labor time did they throw at for this? I'd be far more inclined to do this, but have centerlocks and no paul bunyan wrench (yet). At least i -think- you HAVE to remove the rear wheel in order to access this on a 997.2TT, maybe I'm wrong!
