Question: What is your DIY vs Dealer for repair criterion?
#18
If I can't do it or don't have the time or the right equipment (which is getting pretty rare), I'll take it to an Indy. It never goes to the dealer. My lift has paid for itself, probably x3.

The problem with me isn't doing the repair, it's making the diagnosis. TBH that's a crapshoot around here whether it's indy or dealer. All depends if they've seen the symptoms before or not. I'm talking about things that don't throw codes, those are more straightforward. Once I know what's wrong, someone told me of a new DIY garage opened up, so that expands my DIY capability beyond my own garage. Then the issue then becomes only whether it's a job I can physically handle by myself or whether I need a helper...and I don't know many guys with the knowledge to be help rather than hindrance.
