I am not sure I can swing a new 911 from the factory this time... has anyone shipped their car ( 911 ) from the US / west coast to Europe in the last year or 3 ? Probably better to rent one while you are over there. They have different fuels than US and other items. I doubt Germany permits cars to be imported for a few weeks, then leave.

When I was in the service, the Army shipped my car to Europe. No problems with European fuel or insurance for that matter. I think the problem will be registering your car with temp lic plates.

My brother did a 9 month project for work in Munich. He had his motorcycle and car shipped over without any issues.

Having my Panigale on the autobahn would be good and bad, and terrifying

For what its worth, it costs about $800 to ship a car in a container from east coast to Germany. Probably same to ship it back. Then all the documents, wait time (3 weeks each way) etc.

Rent a Porsche from Porsche. It is a great program. They pick up at an agreed point and time when you are finished

Actually, you can drive on your state plates in Germany. Check with the authorities for sure. It's not uncommon. Also, ensure that you have a good insurance company that will underwrite for Germany, etc.

I plan to do something similar again, taking my 06 back for a few months.

I number of years ago, I explored shipping a Mercedes Benz to Germany when I was being transferred for a few years. I decided not to do it after my research. You can expect to get some "minor" damage to the car. The Service will arrange to have scratches, etc, buffed out. I woujld have also needed to replace the headlamps but this might not be necessary if you are there for only a few months. In the end, it is my opinion that it is not worth it for a couple of months.

I live in the UK and every year we get the influx of imported Exotica from the Middle East. They're all running around on their Dubai number plates so it's definitely no issue.
Once you're in the EU, go where you like from what I can tell
