I just placed a deposit on this 2008 C2 Cabriolet.
The low price ($24,944) reflects a handful of items that need to be done, such as tires, brakes and rotors. There are also a fair amount of nicks and scratches that don't show up in the photos. The right rear tail light is slightly cracked on the edges (probably nothing that will hang up a state inspection). The wheels have a decent amount of curb rash as well.
The biggest issue is the mileage. 116K+. This car was daily driven four seasons here in New England.
The interior is in fairly decent shape, most buttons and switches appear to be in working order (won't know until PPI).
There are no records from the first 55K miles, but the car was owned by a responsible adult since then who kept excellent records and had the car maintained at a Porsche dealer and respectable Indy's.
Records show recent clutch, water pump, and most importantly the IMSB was inspected and the plastic shield removed to allow oil bathing. Why the bearing was not replaced with the LN retrofit or solution, I do not know.
Autocheck also indicates one accident reported as "left front impact with another vehicle", but there were no visible indications of a repair.
Anyway, I am open to opinions on whether this is a good deal or not. PPI will be done by the shop that did the clutch and IMSB next week. I don't need a show car or a track car, just a nice driver to take out on weekends and warm weather commutes.
I will not shed a tear if this deal falls apart, but do look forward to joining the Porsche community at one point or another.

Looks like an oil leak coming from the center of the car... lol j/k it's the tar shakes.
06's to 08's seen very low IMS failures. Given it was daily driven in the NE area during all 4 seasons, I would suggest paying more for the PPI to have the plugs and oil pan removed to check for scoring.
Can't replace the IMS in an 08. But they don't fail so ignore it. Only real issue like stated above is bore scoring. But anecdotally happens less in the non S cars. Get it scoped anyway. Otherwise enjoy.
If you're not a stickler for "perfection" and have a few 000 $ left over to address any immediate needs, I say go for it. Oh, and probably get an invasive PPI to see what you're dealing with.
Unless you plan to drive it "as is" you are looking at ~$1500 for MPS or P-Zeros, ~$1200 for brakes, ~$600 for wheel repair, and whatever for paint correction. You'll then have ~$30,000 in a car with 116,000 miles and a flawed CarFax--a tough sell if that matters. Since it will be a weekend car why not spend a few thousand more and get a low mileage 997 that will hold its value nicely thanks to your low mileage plans?

I sort of agree. But if you DIY everything with aftermarket but quality parts and paint correct yourself you are well below 30K. And if you buy the $32000 997 you are still going to have to put some $$ I to it. Also, any car will have tires and brakes eventually.
I have the answer. Check those rims. If those are OEM you are sitting on $6000 worth of wheel right there. If they are aftermarket they are $1500. Not that that is bad, but different

Yes, like Jeff Spicoli's dad, I have an awesome set of tools. JK, I do plan to perform the majority of the repair and maintenance myself. Dealer wasn't budging on the price but did offer to credit the cost of a new Michelin Pilot rear since it had a nice chunk out of it. Half the reason buying this car is to have a project to work on again.
OP, did you take that picture in your post? Looks suspiciously like a coolant leak to me. Watch out.
No, the picture is from the listing. I linked it in my original post. The water you see is from a melting snow bank on the lot. I test drove the vehicle for about 30 minutes, alone, with some fairly spirited driving on back roads and highway. No issues were apparent to me, though it was my first ever drive in a Porsche. My second ever drive in a Porsche, this morning, resulted in a car fire. No joke. No arguments from the salesman for not making an offer.

That would be insane, but I doubt they are OEM. the right side wheels have some curb rash also. I plan to buy a set of mounted and balanced rim and tire combo and likely just flip the Fuchs style 19" wheels.
