Default Black wheels on black car?

My new to me 2011 C2S cabriolet has some degree of curb rash on 3 of 4 wheels. I’m going to have them refinished. They are factory 19 S wheels in bright silver. The wheel place can do whatever color I want and recommended the semi gloss black as the hip new thing. Their dealer customers are doing them in black to sell much faster. Also hides the brake dust. My cabrio is basalt black metallic with black top and interior and the red brake calipers.

What do you think?

Too much black and keep OEM silver?

Or go for the new sporty look black wheels ‘cause silver is for old farts? (LOL)

Same price either way.

I'd go gray or bronze.

In the long run it seems "modernizing" rarely works out. Keep the OEM wheels OEM silver. That's what I think.

It's entirely a matter of personal taste. I like the look of the Sport Classic (Fuchs-style) wheels with polished rims on a black 997 but I haven't seen a refinished OEM or an aftermarket black wheel I would want on mine. I have lobster forks and I've seen them in black but I prefer keeping mine silver.

IMO, I like contrast between the car's exterior and the wheels. My exterior is white and my wheels are black w/polished lip. Black on black is too trendy, that whole murdered-out look.

I Vadered some pictures off the interwebs. I have exactly this wheel and red calipers. I think the Cabrio below is a 997.1, but you get the general idea.

Might have to do the clear side markers too.

Plasti dip ruined everything. Now all the cool kids have black rims. So if you are under the age of 18 paint your rims black.

Just kidding.

It's your car. Do as you wish and screw what anyone thinks. If you like it there is no wrong.

Obviously a 100% subjective matter. Black on black is too much and silver on black is too much too for me so I want to be somewhere in between. My Forgelines are "midnight silver" which has both silver and black blended. A little of both for a gunmetal sort of finish.

Do something other than black - you lose all the detail of the wheel with black wheels in the dark wheelwell and black has been done to death.

Do a brushed titanium smoke or fully polished or a bronze or buy my polished Champion RS171s and get a stronger and lighter wheel than what you have today.

Brushed Translucent Smoke with clear is one of my favorite wheel finishes for a black car.

If you do it, use a different texture like satin or add a polished lip. Depends on how much attention you want and if you want others to think you are trying hard. I think it’s uncreative, lazy design to do a black car with all black wheels.

ive liked Sandwedge’s wheels for a long time. Great choice. Love my E88s in BBS silver too.

Matching other accents on the car helps.

I think black wheels are 10 years old now. I would go with a titanium bronze sort of color. Black wheels on a black car is just dated IMHO.

Before you refinish, simply Plastidip your rims and see if you like it. I plastidipped my all black Boxster and loved it. Guess I'm a kid at heart! My new rims, not on yet are black Fuch replicas wit polished rim.
