Default DIY Oil change 9A1 7.2 C2s

So, couldn't find in the diy section or via search engine, only saw the 7.1. Am i blind?

i would like to start doing them myself

Lots of oil arguments (vs Mobil 1) , how about a couple of recommendations (no debates, just a few)? besides Mobil 1, although thats what i've run in it by my inde for the last two and a half years.

Warm car 20 mins, i believe
Drain slippery stuff for 45 minutes min.
Remove filter (easy find)? haven't really looked, though i have a small lift i use for my part time track car (70 camaro ss/rs-ls)
Reinstall drain plug, 40 ft lbs ish?
7.5 litres?
recommendation's on filters?
Haven't thought about you-tube, maybe i'll try that later,

anyways, cheers, mike

Oil filter is on top, accessed through the engine cover. Right side, very easy to find. IIRC requires a 37mm socket, torque spec is printed on the filter cover. Very easy.

I’ll wade in - anything from the Porsche approved list works - I use mostly Castrol Edge 0w40.
I’m a bit obsessive so I replace the drain plug and gasket at every oil change (5000 km) - cheap insurance.
Make sure you get the correct hex bit to remove the plug otherwise you’ll strip it.
When I torque the plug I work up to 35 ft lb from 20 ft lbs in 5 ft lb increments - I have this thing about aluminum - don’t want to mess up the pan.

And i looked / searched for all the oil wars, apparently they've all been taken down, probably by Mobil 1.

thanx, the basic info i was looking for. I've used mobil 1, red line, royal purple in my LS, i'm not really partial to any of them in that car as i beat the **** out of it and its a helluva lot cheaper to rebuild than this scapel.

Its just an oil change, what could go wrong? Kinda like putting gas in the side filler of a 72. Or overfilling is no big. Or torque'n too 105....hehehe...

thanx gents, have a good eve, mike

Very helpful. The reset tool you showed at the end, either the durametric cable or the other one, can you elaborate a little more on that? That was one question i meant to ask in my first post, if there were any reset indicators required for this maintenance.

thanx

Not my car

But to reset all I can tell you is the foxwell/schwaben NT510 does NOT work on the 997.2's. I confirmed this with China.

So durametric or icarsoft por ii

Just changed my oil put 8.2L in, marks full when warm. Make sure to use new aluminum crush washer and new rubber gasket for filter housing

I use a small syringe for removing the residue oil at filter base

Yeah, it is weird that there's no way to reset the service reminder without a service computer (PIWIS, Durametric, etc)

2009 C2 S 124K miles

I get my filters and crush washers from Pelican... I get the OEM filters, not Porsche. I also have a magnetic drain plug for maximum entertainment. Change every 5K with Mobil 1 from Walmart. Reset reminder with a Durametric. Drink Pilsner Urquell in mass quantities. I use about 1 quart every 3,5-5k miles depending...

Some information for fun:

The answer is I hope not. Been driving with service soon saying hello to me every time I start the car for the last 15,000 miles. Thought the NT 510 would do it and I was wrong.

So the consensus is pretty much if you want to do your own oil change, get a durametric for no "reminder lights", while the oil change is straight forward, the durametric is not. I went on their website and they run 279 for the basic one. Probably four oil changes would pay for it, not too mention it does other basic diagnostic work as well.

A- thought you had to throw the car away after 100k, good to now.
B- thought they didn't allow german cars into parking lot of wal-mart, you driving a 1976 ford econoline motorhome your not telling us about, to obtain access to said parking lot
C- thought you had to drink german beer while performing this, i'm an american drinking mexican beer while working on a german car with japanese wrenches made in china (thats where snap-on is right?), know wonder this is confusing
