Planning to replace water pump and thermostat
For starters, thanks to USMC for putting up the 997 water pump diy. I was curious is I'm hitting 73k on my 07 4S, i am planning to replace the pump and change coolant before the summer as preventive maintenance although everything is running perfectly fine. Im planning on doing the thermostat but at odds about using the OEM one or the lower 160C thermostat, anyone have opinions on what should be installed? Also on a completely stock car does it make sense to do the third radiator upgrade. Im in the DC area and not sure if its needed...
Thanks for the help..

I have a 2007 C2S with 53k miles. I like to do a lot of preventative maintenance, mainly because I enjoy wrenching as a break from the rest of life. It is also nice to know my water pump is less likely to go while I'm 150 miles away in the NC mountains. I had a 2000 Boxster S back in 2011 and replaced it at 55k miles, it was like new inside but I was OK with that. But I get off subject. I'm thinking of buying a pump and doing it when I need some relaxing wrench relief. As for flushing fluids, I won't be at my mileage, nor will I worry about the thermostat. I'm not against reading some threads on why I should use the 160 thermostat.

Plenty of threads on the low temp thermostat where it doesn't all need to be repeated again. My opinion is Yes use the LTT. I have it in both my cars and source it from a reputable place like LN Engineering, not off eBay. Refill the system with new Porsche pink coolant in a 50/50 ratio with distilled water. If you wrench on cars a good bit, invest in an AirLift vacuum fill tool (from Amazon) as it will greatly shorten the air purge process and getting the car to a stable coolant level again.

I would not use the Low Temperature Thermostat for street usage. These cars needs to work at their nominal temperature to burn all the moisture and keeps all parts warmly lubricated. For racing, it is another matter.....
