Default Dealer Programming

So I have an appointment with the dealer on Friday to program the passenger airbag deactivation switch on my base 997.2. Shop rate is a minimum of one hour, yet will only take a few minutes to program. I don’t have a durametric nor do I want to program the deactivation switch wrong so that is why the dealer is doing it. My question is what other things do I want them to program while they are in there?

1. The 997.2 already has the side lights that blink as turn signals.
2. I am thinking one touch up on the passenger window rather than hold it until it is 50% up.
3. Maybe a one touch to open the moon roof? If there is such a thing.
4. Horn honk when locking or unlocking?
5. Anything else you guys like?

Remove the seat belt chime.
Activate the rear console waffle maker.

Key fob windows up (holding lock button) and down (holding unlock button). I don't believe there's a horn beep on lock function available.

Get a RemoteKey, more features, plus you can turn on and off at will. No one touch sunroof closure, on 997.2

997.1 is different from 997.2 as far as features and programability (dealer or Durametric). As far as I know, for the 997.2, no auto roof opening possible, we are stuck with the stupid passenger window issue, horn honk?... I dunno about that one... my 997.2 never honked at me thank goodness.

Post what you learn... this is always a journey, particularly when the dealers have little clue how this stuff all works or what is available.

Peace

I don't think you can get those functions through the dealer, but check out mods4cars.com (no affiliation). I bought their STLBPE1 module for my 997.2 cab and now I have the horn chirp on lock/unlock, one touch windows (front and rear), convertible top open and close with key and one touch top open and close with center console top switch. It has some other function adjustments that I don't really use. It's pricey at $439, but I think it is well worth it. It was a 10 minute install and is customizable via PC or mac (usb).

these same basic coding rules will apply re 997.1 + 997.2

- horn honk WONT work via coding
- remote sunroof control WONT work via coding
- remote windows WILL work via coding

for 997.2 - i think already default from factory the side markers will be blinkers on a 997.1 it just stays on so that will have to be enabled via coding if you want that function.

That's weird, my 997.1 does when I press the lock button twice on the key fob. 1st press, the locks engage, map and door lights dim off. On the 2nd press, the parking lights flash and the horn honks

The second press of the button defeats the internal motion sensor, like if you leave a pet in the car for a minute. The horn honks to let you know one of the alarm features is bypassed.

Also, on the 997.1 I know if you change side markers to be turn signals they no longer function as side markers.

Oh ok. So the OP, Bruce and you are referring to the horn unable to honk when you press it the first time to lock the car, right?

That is correct. Horn honk when I press the button once to lock or unlock the doors. I am just so use to hearing it that I would like it if possible. Bruce is right though the dealer has no clue what they can or cannot do in programming my 997.2.

you cant do this with durametric. there are other hacks tho (glove compartment) that can enable this feature.

What myw is referring to is that there is a switch that confirms the glove compartment is closed. If you modify that switch so the car thinks it's open, it will honk every time you lock the car with a single button. I actually discovered this myself accidentally...when installing my Dension setup I routed the interface ports over to the glove compartment and installed them in there so they'd be tidy and hidden. When I pulled the wiring loom over there, I actually grabbed the metal finger of the switch and pulled it off center so even though the glove compartment was closed, the switch wasn't being made, and the car would beep every time I locked it. Took me a while to figure out, find, and correct, but that would give you the beep on lock you want without bypassing the internal motion or other more important sensors if you decide to do it. Personally, I prefer that my cars only flash the lights and don't beep at me, and disable the horn beep on all of them, but to each their own.
