Dusty engine bay
The last time I wet-cleaned an engine bay (1972 PL510) I spent the next two years replacing just about every rubber component under the hood... piece by piece. Needless to say that was the last time I used Gunk Foaming Engine cleaner.
The engine compartment on my '05 C2 is not terribly dirty, but it is dusty. Carrera White exacerbates the issue. Every time i see a squeaky clean engine bay I am tempted to do something more than spot cleaning with a damp microfiber cloth as I currently do.
Is there a safe and effective way to clean the bay of a 997? The used cars at my local P-dealer all have flawlessly clean bays. What's the secret? Steam?

I use S100 to clean my moto and its amazing. Apparently it's also excellent for 911's as well.

Cut fingers and bloody towels. I would not steam clean any modern engine bay. I also recall the days of spraying an engine compartment with engine degreaser and using a hose on a running engine to clean the gunk.

S100 or P21S works flawlessly.

Do not steam clean, pressure wash, or flood the engine bay with hose water.
