... this **** was on a 997 I test drove but did not ultimately buy. That said, I'd like to find out where to get one as the one I did buy doesn't have it (and I liked it.)
Anyone recognize this? I think it is OEM but am not 100% sure. It has open slots immediately under the shifter and I liked the feel/look.
Thanks - Rodie

It’s called the X97 shifter, and is kind of a holy grail if you’re looking for a used one. Usually sold with an e-brake handle that is easily scratched.
Rodie, if your not in a rush I will likely switch it in spring. Not sure what I want yet. Kcheves is correct about light scratches. I don't wear them, but likely from rings. What color is your interior? Anyone know how to remove these *****? I think the brake handle just slides off.
?
Installed the X97 into my car. The shifter comes off by rotating the clip after you pull up the leather shift boot. Note the gear selector is a solid piece of aluminum that goes an inch or so inside the handle vs others where the top is just plastic.
For the e brake, I swapped the whole mechanism. Wasn't too hard. I don't think you can just do the e break cover, think its the whole thing.
The reason I thought the brake handle just slid off was because the second time I drove the car to a restaurant, I went out to go home and could not release the emergency brake. I almost gave up and called a tow, then realized that the aluminum shell of the handle had slid up about half an inch and locked the lever button from using. I actually thought it might be some tricky anti-theft thing. I slid it back and all was well.
