Speaking of adding oil... while looking around for the screw holding my taillight assemble (last post), I noticed oil around my (embarrassingly dirty) engine. I know little about engines -- but is this a concern?? I've been adding a quart every 3 months or so-- 2-3,000 miles.

Regarding adding oil 1 quart every 2-3,000 miles is normal and well within Porsche's spec. FYI.

I wasn't worried about having to add oil -- but seeing oil there makes me nervous. Is that normal??

Hard to tell from that picture. Someone here will comment soon, I'm sure.

To me, it looks too uniform to be a leak. But like I said, hard for me to tell from your picture.

I would need a wider angle view to know what part of the engine I'm looking at and then the close-up view. What's the blue stuff under the arrows - sealant?

The blue looks like a wire loom, and the pic looks like it the right side of the engine bay beside the airbox ?

You're right. I see it now. That wire is probably one of the O2 sensor wires and I see the decklid hydraulic cylinder now. I'll have to take a look in my engine bay to see what's in that area, but it might be right above the oil filter.
