Looking forward to seeing all the posts here...
No worries, 997 is actually THE MOST reliable car I've ever owned, period! It's actually the most reliable model in the Porsche range according to multiple dealers and shops I've talked to. Those major failures do happen, VERY RARELY, but are reported all over forums and they aren't even a drop in the bucket considering the number of 997s on the road. I also think some of the videos by "repair shops" for bore scoring are actually making it sound a lot worse just to drum up business.

Just maintain you car well, drive and enjoy it!

Alas, that is a different Torch. I believe he is still active there, though.

I was on club ride three years ago with a guy who just traded in his Turbo (on a new one) with over 500k miles. He purchased it new. I believe it was 996 with that many miles - water cooled at any rate. Keep in mind his Turbo had a Mezger engine. Someone from the dealership where it was traded recently mentioned it was resold and now had over 580k miles.

Put over 3000 miles on her in Europe and then just kept driving!

Now sits at 119,056 in my garage. Thanks to PCCBs, am still on factory pads!

Default Just crossed 100000 miles:)

Just crossed 100k miles on my 2005 997 C2. Of course, only some 10k are my miles in the past year. But I've done over 90k cumulatively across my previous 911s.. 😜 Need to think about service items with the impending oil change..

How could I miss 997 😀

From earlier today ... Added another 500 miles.

Still original everything except for front upper strut mounts, one front axle boot (road fault ... chip seal damage), and front diff seals. Well ... Brakes, tires, wiper blades, & lubricants as well.

We (C4) are coming up on 126,000mi now.

Just DIY'd passenger interior latch switch and lock actuator unit (drivers side replaced both at 95k).
I have a seeping o-ring between the power steering upper and lower reservoirs.
Serpentine belt tensioner bearing makes a chirp sometimes I dislike.
Jonesing for a CarPlay HU, some PDR and fresh tint.

Might go back to stock struts in 2020........

I have no complaints other than I wish my herniated disc would go away OR all the roads in Dallas immediately repaired. Urban 997 driving on 19s can be hellish.
