Oh yea, I am out there.... walking that fine line..... ziggin' when other zag..... I be doin copper today.
Did an oil change and picked up a washer at Nappa.... got a copper one.. Yep, my car's bung got plugged with a hard copper one. Why? 'cus I know its gonna tick a few of you off. Oh, in case you are not aware, Nappa is not Porsche... not a Porsche part... oh my.
Flame away.
BTW, I was one bar down from full and did a long drain... about 3 hours.... took out about 8.5 quarts.... that included tilting the car and jacking it up high in the rear. I did it in my garage so I jacked up the back high... let it drain... jacked it down flat ... tilted it... one way then the other...... when you move the car around like that, you get more oil I think. The tech at my local Porsche dealer said that he can get 8.5 quarts into the car after a long drain so I am consistent with his comments... even though my manual states 7.9 quart capacity.
Peace

Yay , finally someone had the kahunas to use the copper that comes with all the filters. I applaud you for hanging it out there and your environmentally friendly use of the copper rather than just throwing it in the landfill site potentially contaminating my kids drinking water some day. You rock
Copper mines are pretty toxic and nasty, same for the smelters that take the ore and refine it. Ever been near Juarez Mexico? I have, stinky poo with all those smelters around. So look at what you did Bruce! You stunk up Mexico and El Paso. Shame shame.
You'd better make sure your life insurance premiums are paid, because you're going to die a painful, fiery death when your engine grenades and you can't get out of the car because the galvanic corrosion spread to your door latches.
You're also going to burn in hell because you didn't think of all of the other people you're endangering by driving around this ticking time bomb.
Of course, you deserve that eternal fate for using non-Porsche parts. Just keep that death-mobile away from me.
