Maybe this comes in a Tiptronic version too.

I do not like the tiptronic. But if I had to have one to get a turbo I could afford, I'd do it.

Obviously the manual gear box is more pure and probably more fun but consider this.

I live in Dubai where these type of cars get hammered by young drivers with scant regard for the longevity of the machine. Over revs, on up and down shifting, is a real hidden problem and some previous drivers exuberance could cost you dearly in the future.
I specifically chased a 996TT tip for this reason and 6+ years later, so far so good. (touch wood, touch wood )

Would I prefer a manual? yep but would I prefer more an engine that I know for a fact has not and cannot be over revved? Oh yeeeaaaah.

Man, I've been away for a couple of years and the second I come back KrazyK is here....and on the 997 forum!!!

Advice to possibly the most "famous" individual on the 996 forum - if you end up with a 997, definitely DO NOT drive it. It could blow up as well.

Why not just pull the DME report from the manual car you would be considering to see what the overrevs look like before buying? If you compare the operating hours from the DME to the mileage on the odometer, you can also usually tell if the DME has been reset illegally to delete overrev data (the average MPH would be way too high).
