Default Considering selling - Fair price?

Hey all,

I hate to say this, but I'm thinking about selling my 09 C2. I love the car, but I don't feel like my lifestyle/driving warrants it (lotsa small kids and zero time... it sits at a park and ride all day... that's about it). I'm also having trouble finding comparable cars on the market, so I'm wondering what the community thinks. Here are the stats:

2009 C2 PDK - 56k miles
White on gray standard leather
$85k MSRP, so pretty basic. Power/memory seats, Bose, XM, etc.
Sport Chrono SW added later
New clear bra on front and stone guards
New tail lights (fractures) and windshield
Up on all maintenance
Shows incredibly well.. I just corrected the paint and I take very good care of it. Detailing is a hobby.

So given all that, I am thinking high 30s. That feel reasonable, but if I do this, I want to make it painless. I hate weeks or months of phone calls and tire kickers.

Opinions appreciated.

John

Autotrader is your friend. You can benchmark your car vs others with mi and options, color PDK ect..

In CA, I would say start around 42-40k, I have the exact same car, but with fewer miles, so curious how it sells.

Craigslist might be more tire kickers?

Boy youre right....comps within 500 miles of you are tough. I would say $48k is your sweet spot and avoid Craigslist. $43k for a quick sale. Get it smogged now so its one less thing to check off.

White is a great classic color that has a solid following. IIRC Danville is NorCal so you have a good market to draw from.

Low 40’s will get it done quick and painless.

My 2-owner, all records 2009 6MT C4 I sold recently had 34,000 miles and was a $94k build. Great car, nearly flawless condition. I had it listed here for $47k, and the only responses were from tire kickers and people looking to trade. I gave it to a dealer to consign: they had it sold at $51,900 within a week, netting me $48,500.

If I couldn't sell my more expensive car at $47k with 1/2 of the miles yours has, you may have trouble at $43k. It is worth $43k easily, however. Private sales are hard. I always consign stuff now; I net out more, and have none of the hassle. In that price range, most good dealers will charge 7%, but if they can move it for $48,000, you are netting $44k and change.

I have 2 great consigners I use up here in Oregon: one for luxury cars, and one for SUV's and trucks. I would suggest asking around and finding someone to work with you. A Porsche dealer is ideal; many won't take consignments however. Ours does, but we are out of season for 911's.

I like the consignment idea... but I want to use the proceeds for the next car, so that might be a little inconvenient. Here's a recent pic.

And yeah, the comps are virtually non-existent. There are 7 in the US, and several are either real low mileage or cabs. It's tricky.
