The best of the best .... but ....
Since I bought my dream car I've used it twice with my wife and 0 times with our son. The issue is that with me (6'2") and my wife (6') his car seat is useless. So, M2? If anyone has had both can you let me know if those back seats are a little bit more forgiving?
We take frequent weekend trips and the 911 has never been and will probably never be part of them .... and I am thinking I'll rather have an ok car that I enjoy frequently than a dream car that never gets to be in the family trip picture. Am I looking at this the wrong way?
I should probably take this issue to my therapist, but you guys Should be a better and cheaper way of processing my conundrum.

Three Wheelin'
My buddy has an M2 and it's more than an ok car. The backseats are more forgiving than my 997 but for a growing family... probably not enough. Would try M4 if you want coupe with some space.

I'd hate to give up your car. Have you thought about leg shortening surgery?
But seriously ... Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Unfortunately your only options seem to be either to sell the kid, or sell the car. I imagine you are more fond of the kid than the car, so you are going to have to sell the car.
Have you tried a 991? That car has more room in the back seats.

I'm 6'1" as well. How old is your son?
Remove the OEM seatback for more space and the seat bottom do he doesn't spill stuff on the leather. If he needs a forward facing car seat, the Harmony Dreamtime works great as the bottom is narrow enough at the back to sit all the way back in the area and removing the OEM seat back let's it lean back to be much more comfortable. This will work until he's 6 or 7.
If he's tall enough where his head is too close to the roof, get a piece of memory foam for him to sit on and a towel that matches the color of your interior to wrap it in. It will be plenty comfortable. Also, sit him on the passenger side as their seat position isn't as important as the driver's seat. This should work until he's 10 or 11.
If you have a cab, it's not as good as the rear seat area back wall is actually tipped forward to allow enough space for the top to fold down behind it.
If none of these are good options, take a look at a Macan Turbo - it drives like a slightly larger sports car.
Here are my kids in my wife's 997 a couple years ago on the way to school - he was 7 and she was 10 in the Harmony Dreamtime seats.
Same setup was in my silver 997

Have you looked at an older Panamera Turbo. I've test driven a couple of 2010s and they run around the same price as a nice 997.1 S. A joy to drive and the handling is awesome.
All else fails check out the Macan.
