Default Going rate for a clutch & IMS ? 05 997.1

Think my clutch is ready to be replaced. No real slippage, but it mildly shudders a little now when starting off. No additional stiffness in the pedal.

Called my inde and was told about $2500 - was expecting about $2100?

Also mentioned RMS and IMS which I agree with. 55K miles.

Looking at maybe $4500 with clutch, flywheel, RMS & LN IMS

My car has the smaller serviceable bearing.

I've read the IMS threads til about a year ago. Whats new?

What about just changing the replacing the IMS bearing rather than the LN route?

Thanks for any updates.

If by saying "just changing and replacing the IMS bearing", you are talking about using a stock bearing, I don't believe Porsche will sell you an IMS bearing. You will have to go aftermarket.

I'm also interested in going rate for clutch kit on 997.1. My 08 C4 will need it soon.

Looks like a clutch kit is maybe $800 from pelican and the LN bearing kit is about $800, RMS $30,

Hopefully not a flywheel $1400.

You want the Flat 6 /LN "IMS Solution" bearing replacement, which is the newest option and uses an oil bearing like that in the old Mezger engines as it does not have any ***** or rollers but rather spins on a film of oil. It's the only option that is a "lifetime bearing" that doesn't have a service life interval.

On my 05 C2S it was $2595+tax at German Excellence in Winter Park, FL. That included the LN Engineering Dual Row Pro IMS bearing upgrade, clutch kit, the RMS plus some other seals that they replaced while they were in there. This did not include a new flywheel because mine was in good shape. If you need a new flywheel that will add significantly to the cost.

Looks like clutch kit and flywheel can be had for $1400-1500. How many hours for labor at the shop? Curious... there is a DIY floating around... not that I would ever attempt something so insane

I could definitely do it myself, but the thought of two weekends on the floor in my garage doesnt sound appealing right now. Especially after spending the last weekend and a half resealing an old motorcycle. Its like car yoga.

Plus the IMS bearing and RMS.

Some jobs need to be fed to my inde to keep him nice. (actually he's very nice, and a friend - and the best pcar shop in 100 miles.)

If you're going to change the IMS bearing you'll have to choose an aftermarket alternative (LN and others) - there is no factory replacement.

I did IMS Solution on 2004 40AE with clutch, RMS, AOS at a certified installer for about $4,500 (13 hours of labor).

Their fairness is only surpassed by their skill. I dont mind paying for that.

They know I could do it myself.
