Default Oil Change service indicator reset ?

I searched but didn't come across the answer so.... here it is....

Thinking about changing the oil in my 997.1 myself as it seems easy enough and was wondering if there is a oil service indicator thing that I need to use a scan tool to reset....

Do a Oil service reminder exist in 997.1 ? Which model year did Porsche started to have such service reminder ?

Yes there is a service indicator that will remind you to change the oil and brake fluid. The interval varies by year, with 2008 (I think) being unique. This should all be in your owners manual.

You can reset it with a Durametric cable, but I think there are now cheaper options. The dealer uses PIWIS.

Oil changes are easy on these cars.

People have suggested a number of cheaper diagnostic tools if you search. A popular one seems to be the Launch X431 among others which I can't remember at the moment.

Porsche of Honolulu wanted $450 to change the oil in my '09 C4S. I said I'll change the oil, but can you reset the light? They said no.

I changed the oil myself (easiest car I've ever done), and bought the reset tool, all for significantly less than the dealer wanted for an oil change.

I got the Autel MD802:

I can vouch for this tool as well. Used it 3 times on my car already and works on pretty much any other brand

I just purchased an Autel MD802, but I can't seem to find the way to reset the service indicator on my 2009 911S. I tried Oil Reset, but the only options I get are: Read Codes, Erase Codes, and Other Services. The Other Services does nothing when I select it and the Read/Erase codes are just for OBDII codes.

Any suggestions?

I have used an Autel (I forget the model) to reset service reminder. Would have to go instrument cluster section to find service reset.

here's the sequence of screens for my '11 911 TT. Make sure the ignition is on but engine is off (you should have most lights on in the instrument cluster)

I have the V2.0 version of the iCarsoft tool. (I think it's the same thing as listed above.) I have a 2005 C2S. The iCarsoft was able to reset the service light in the dash.

I tried the Launch Tech CReader VII, and it couldn't talk to the ECU to reset the service light. So, for me, the iCarsoft tool was the solution for me.

Thank you, very much, but when I hit "Special Function" I don't get any further menus. I'll have to check the firmware, I suppose......

They refused to reset your light, even for a fee? If that's the case, then I would have told the service writer, the GM and the owner that they could all suck it.

Interesting, before I got my tool, a Creader 7S, my dealer in MA reset the interval, twice, for free, I gave the Tech $25 each time
