987 Exhaust Tips on 997?
Hi All,
I’m looking for new exhaust tips to put on my 2005 Carrera S and I’m trying to figure out if 987 Boxster/Cayman Exhaust Tips would fit the exhaust pipe outlet of my 997. From the looks they seem very similar and as long as the diameter is the same I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t work.
I was thinking about those two styles:
Maybe someone can confirm that the OD’s are the same between 997 and 987?

I can't speak for those, but another option could be the 991.1 tips which I've used for the past couple of years. They fill the space in the bumper opening far better than many other options.

Looks sweet man! I really like that look! Do you mind posting the part number? Also do you know if they will fit the Carrera S pipes? Not sure if they have a different diameter. Maybe another member can help out here?

On the 997.2 the diameter is the same between the base and the S. I have the Carrera S exhaust tips on my car and they fit perfectly without having to use any adapters.

Thanks for the replies!
My car is a 997.1 C2S. I assume that the pipe diameter should be the same on my car as the 997.2 C2S and therefore fit the 991.1 tips?
Does anyone have the part number of the ones shown in the previous post?

Do you know of a way to fit those on a non-S .1? Looks so great!

Yes the 991.1 Carrera tips will fit on the 997.1 C2S without a problem. Pick up a used set from the forum or eBay and have them ceramic coated, which is what I did.

I installed the Carrera Sport Tips on my 2012 C2S. They are a slightly larger diameter than the stock "S" tips and they stick out about 0.5" more than stock. I also like the polished stainless steel look.

There is quite a lot of adjustment on the clamps, so they might work without any modification/adjustments needed.
If however they are still too wide where they attach to the pipe, you could use adapters like the ones below:

I've also seen some posts of people using header tape to achieve the same thing, but am not sure how well that works.
